#Arch freezing

what's your cpu and gpu? there might be a chance you could stop the crashing by compiling some stuff (Only speculating)
I could send my neofetch in a few secs just gotta restart my pc cuz it js froze
Gpu ik amd radoen rx580
Intel i7-7700K
Is cou
Cpu*
from what I tested before, the binaries for graphics stuff in the pacman repo are kinda slow, you could compile mesa-git from the aur inside a tty to see if it does anything
I dont rlly get what to do there
but I reinstalled my drivers
is that good or bad
what are you using for your desktop rn
xfce
gnone? kde?
?
arch linux? why is the debian logo there
use the journalctl command
hol up
and try to find a time where your system froze the last time
no I don't want the time I want error message
theres none
then use journalctl
look for the last crash
just look for the time it crashed if it's in there
actually nvm I have no idea how journalctl works
use this command
lsmod | awk '{print $1}' | grep amd
and show the output
you have mesa installed right?
you need mesa for opengl
which a lot of games use cause they're too lazy to implement native vulkan
done
and check if you have these packages
amd-ucode amdvlk vulkan-radeon
amd-ucode installing
if it shows up it's installed
you installed all of those now?
alr, I have no idea what else to do lol, just try doing something gpu intensive and see if it crashes easily
xD
my pc isnt even loud
when starting minecraft or installing arch it went "phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww"
like a shot loud
wdym loud
when I went into the tty
at installing
u know how loud a ps4 can be?
2x that loud or sum
I don't think that's supposed to happen lol
I mean, 2017 specs and 950 Watt psu
i have specs equivalent to stuff in 2010, that's not the problem
are you overclocking your cpu or something?
you did that on the same computer?
yeah
are you sure you didn't just damage parts cause of overheating
im too poor to upgrade
it never overheated
ik that
well I still think you could just compile mesa-git
but it has extra steps
not just clone it somewhere and go
it needs a clean chroot
building that could give more support to your gpu
since you installed it today I assume you know nothing about makepkg?
for making pakages
yay is only a helper to get packages from the aur like using a package manager
makepkg is part of the system itself, yay isn't
I know the acronyms
if you want to build mesa-git you could dm me
cause I don't feel like sending more messages in this single thread
also when I was done installingoverwatch 2 it froze again
did you solve it yet?
he didn't post anything so I'm guessing he did
Didnt fix itself

I reinstalled xorg rn
kind of a long shot but
do you have xorg-xrandr installed?
that solved an issue I was getting with some games not launching and giving me an opengl error
@stray temple
maybe that could be the issue?
as far as I'm aware it's up to the de/wm to draw stuff
maybe it's an issue with xfce and your gpu/cpu
On hyprland it also froze once or twice
man idfk then lmao
Happened to windows too when first downloading it, rabdomly fixed itself tho
idk, I'm almost sure that's an installation issue
Id just reinstall
I can help you do it without script
Saturday
Since tmrw I have a physics test
I have to be travelling for 13h on Friday... I think I have time
