#KDE Plasma scaling issues on xorg, that are fixed on wayland, but wayland = system too unusable

First is Jetbrains Rider on Wayland
This is Rider running under Xorg
Spot the difference
Notice how, in the Xorg screnshot, the window icon is almost the same size as the other icon in the top left
Also notice how the window title text is larger
Same with close, min and max buttons
I chose Rider because Rider doesn't respect DPI scale settings
And that's the trick here
both my xorg and wayland sessions are set up the same way as far as display configuration is concerned
Same monitor layout, same resolution, same global scale setting (100%)
there should be no DPI scaling
but KDI is clearly applying some
Question is why, and how do I fix it without using Wayland
