How does lvm effect performance when using ssd and hdd and my use

I am not fining alot of detail regarding this when searching online, I have 500gb hdd and 128gb ssd in my computer. I want to use lvm but I don't know how it will affect performance and how i will go about doing stuff. I am having trouble understanding what I'll be able to do with lvm.

is it spanned?
then whenever the PE or physical extent being written or read to is on the the hdd
then it will read/write with the performance will be the speed of the hdd
and same thing happens for the ssd

it's just dependentent on where the data lies
personally i advice against using lvm
youre just better off with normal partitioning
lvm is only good for resizing volumes but if you have pretty solid partition layout then you wouldnt need to resize, just put stuff you access more frequently on the ssd
