its using 4.6.0 of something but on other versions it uses 3.2.0 and works. How do I change it?

indigo tulip
#

need more information

#

do you mean the opengl version?

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

where are you seeing this number

viral drum
#

on 1.20 opengl 3.2.0 its works fine but on 1.8.9 something 4.6.0 all the textures are messed up.

indigo tulip
#

what minecraft launcher do you use

viral drum
#

it aplies to all the launchers I use

#

its not lunar

indigo tulip
#

does it have an option like "use system glfw" or somewhere that you set the lwjgl version? maybe you've set/enabled that

#

where does it say that

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

okay i think that is the opengl version

#

people online are saying that in older versions of minecraft including 1.8, the version displayed is just the version supported by your system, not the version the game is using

#

in newer versions of minecraft, the number is the version the game is actually using (3.2)

#

older versions are actually using gl 2.0

i don't know, but i don't think this is the reason for it

#

actually i see one potential problem

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

you've launched the game with java 17

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

you should be using java 8

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

i have no idea how lunar works but there should be some way to set it in the launcher

#

you might need to install jre8-openjdk with pacman

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

now figure out how to set it in the launcher

#

i know you can do it in multimc derivatives

#

and i think in the official launcher too

viral drum
#

no way

indigo tulip
#

does lunar have instances like other launchers

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

idk then

#

you might need to try this with another launcher

viral drum
#

doesn't work on anything else

indigo tulip
#

are there settings for each of these versions

#

or just the settings for the whole launcher

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

or are you saying you already tried java 8 on other launchers and it didn't work

indigo tulip
#

oh ok, i don't know what the problem is then

#

i see that you have optifine enabled, have you tried launching without it

silent flicker
#

Have you tried disabling the resource pack you’re using? Also, what other launchers and game versions did you try?

viral drum
silent flicker
#

Without mods?

In Minecraft?

indigo tulip
#

it's part of the fps slider

#

i think

silent flicker
#

Set a VSync to off and set the FPS limit to something other than 0 (all the way to the left).

viral drum

#

Do you have Java 8 installed

indigo tulip
#

with prism you do it here (edit instance -> settings)

silent flicker
#

it actually needs to be installed first

#

But yea

indigo tulip
#

yeah we installed it i think

#

earlier in this thread

silent flicker
#

Ok

viral drum
indigo tulip
#

wdym

viral drum
# indigo tulip wdym

its locked on java 17 even when I change it and load into game in f3 its running 17

indigo tulip
#

even with it set to java 8 in that menu and the java box checked?

indigo tulip
#

are you sure you're editing the instance settings and not the global default settings for prism

indigo tulip
#

idk wtf is happening then
