yeah they're just regular SATA devices

you should see it as /dev/sr0 or /dev/cdrom

microcode doesn't affect this

is there a disk in it

sounds like it might be broke

they usually have a little hole you can press a paperclip or something in to force the tray open

yeah that's IDE

it's what came before SATA

is there a little hole on the front you can poke something in

that should force it open

you might have to push kinda hard to get it to pop open
