Recently I wanted to experiment with LXQt. Normally I use GNOME with GDM. I installed the lxqt group via pacman. After restarting I tried to login into LXQt from GDM. All I got was a black screen. I can still switch to TTYs and kill Xorg. I tried logging into LXQt through startx - same exact reaction.

I am on a laptop with dual graphics and I use optimus manager to automatically set the configuration to NVIDIA. Could this be caused somehow by this?

I would consider using SDDM with LXQt.

While I know that SDDM is the ideal way of starting it, I know from what I see that it won't work in this case
