#[SOLVED] os-prober not finding Windows Boot Manager inside arch-chroot, but outside of it it does

My Windows boot partition is on my 1st SSD while I'm installing Linux on my 2nd one, trying to grub-mkconfig results in no Windows Boot Manager being added.
Running os-prober by itself inside chroot shows no results, whereas it does give results outside of it. What am I missing?

#

It's a really weird issue I've never had before

#

I've attempted to add a custom entry for grub but couldn't do it

i seriously don't like messing with grub, I'd rather just spam the bios boot key and select the windo*s boot manager.

#

Well I've never had to mess with grub before at all, it just always worked up to this

#

idk is it because I'm on 2 drives?

lament siren
#

how did you install arch?

spiral pagoda
#

Still in the middle of doing it

lament siren
#

the archinstall script?

spiral pagoda
#

Nah

#

Manually

lament siren
#

oh

spiral pagoda
#

Always worked manually, now with my new laptop it's giving me trouble

lament siren
#

okay so i think it only detects where the operating system is

spiral pagoda
#

I'd say it doesn't support it but why does os-prober work outside of chroot

spiral pagoda
lament siren
#

grub is stored in a drive which arch is

#

maybe because it's a live iso?

spiral pagoda
#

wish I could generate the grub config from the outside lol

lament siren
#

it shows copying to ram at the start too

spiral pagoda
#

it always worked until now

lament siren
#

well i don't have great knowledge about grub, maybe someone who does might be able to help because EVERYTIME I mess with grub i lose my whole system

spiral pagoda
#

Weird thing is I can't find anything about this issue online, it not working inside chroot but outside of it

Yea no luck, mounting it either on a random folder or inside the EFI partition didn't work

#

I just installed normally, booted into the installed Linux and then added Windows to Grub there

#

now everything is as it should be but

#

this has never happened before

#

and I don't get what exactly I did wrong

spiral pagoda
#

Yea

#

is there another way to chroot?

#

I only know that one

high vine
spiral pagoda
#

oh lol

high vine

spiral pagoda
#

Well no I always use arch-chroot

if you're on a laptop or desktop computer, see the note on archiving by sending a message that says ... archive.

Well it's already done anyway, if anything I'd have more questions but if you want this closed then fine
