The title says it all.
Specs:

Main GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics (Cannot disable in BIOS)
Secondary GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Model (laptop): Lenovo Ideapad 3 15ARH05 82EY

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
RAM: 8GB
Distro: Kali Linux x64 (newest, updated, headers installed)

I don't know if this will be safe and how to do it as AMD controls my display.

The procedure section on the page is where the operation happens.

dusty fog
#

You could try black arch as alternative also

It's the second day and Kali works perfectly without any crash

dusty fog
#

god damn it...I have a .deb not a .targz package

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

I've had arch like a month ago

#

same with tails, debian or qubesOS

#

tell me: why

#

where qubesOS is made for real paranoids/user who wants max privacy

#

just tell me

#

how to get my driver working

#

๐Ÿ˜ญ

#

i havent got any kernel crashes in comparison to other distros

dusty fog
#

and what does that change...

#

I dont game a lot on linux

#

and i want a good distro for pentesting and programming purposes in the future

#

that it's not meant for desktop usage

dusty fog
#

that's like saying Arch isnt meant for desktops because there arent preinstalled drivers

#

like bro

dusty fog
#

I honestly just use it to not die when clicking a link

dusty fog
#

some distros have outdated browsers

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

I used arch way before

#

vanilla arch

#

it sucked

dusty fog
#

lmfao

#

learn what user preference is

dusty fog
#

Kali>Arch

dusty fog
# dusty fog Kali>Arch

you can even have linux mint/fedora or endeavourOS as base then distrobox kali or get pen testing tools over those

#

omfg

#

Fedora crashes

#

mint crashes

#

endeavour crashes

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

Kali does not crash

#

Kali is optimized

#

(kinda)

#

everything works fine with Kali for me and my GPU TEMPS ARE OUTSTANDING

#

kali is optimized for pen testing, not desktop

#

I get 56 C when idling on windows and 40 C on kali

#

when doing normal things

#

browsing etc

#

just pls tell me how to instlal my driver

#

๐Ÿ˜ข

#

you're literally comparing a desktop OS with a pen testing distro

#

so not fair comparison

dusty fog
#

tho why amdpro?

#

.aw amdpro

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

they already told you how
Guide is outdated, amdpro for some shitty ubuntu 16.04, latest version isnt even latest

#

I just need to know

#

how to uninstall the entire AMD driver

#

I already downloaded amdgpu

#

.aw amdgpu pro

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

im on debian

dusty fog
#

wtf

#

do

#

you

#

mean

#

old

#

base

dusty fog
#

the issue here is that you're forcing a pen testing distro into doing things that it was not designed for

#

that's why it lacks proper driver support for your needs

#

best advice is to use a regular desktop distro like linux mint, fedora or arch itself then get amdgpu pro and the pen testing tools over it

#

that way, you get a proper desktop distro, with the drivers you need for whatever reason, plus the pen testing tools. black arch website has even an article and guide into how to do this with base arch

dusty fog
#

here's the thing. debian is way stable, but uses way out of date packages. then mint has more up to date, but it still lags behind fedora. then there's arch that is up to date always, but requires you to build your own rice and mantain it.
tho endeavourOS can help to have a quick archbased install, or archinstall script.

dusty fog
#

also ood packages would quite be good for me because most "newer" and "best" things often fuck up my pc

#

and give me kernel panics

#

for general usage, the amd2 Mesa driver will do

#

.aw amd

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

.aw amdgpu pro

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

I only use kali for hacking, programming and blender tho

#

and youtube

#

I have windows dualbooted

#

tells what's the difference and who do really needs it, regardless of the distro

#

thats my main gaming os

#

Windows gaming, Kali other purrposes

dusty fog
#

still perofrmance is superior to windows

dusty fog
#

rn I'm running a steam game on arch

#

the only games that may have issues are kernel level anticheat ones

#

the rest just run

dusty fog
#

since you have amd2 GPU, games will run without issues

#

I have amd iGPU

#

no extra configuration required but dxvk

#

the gpu i game on is NVIDIA

dusty fog
#

I did

#

distros that have an ez way to get nvidia working are popOS and endeavourOS

#

the rest need manual installation

#

well, linux mint also provides a tool to get it running

dusty fog
patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

so you can read about

#

look

#

I already set the drivers up

#

remember to setup dxvk

#

... dxvk

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

what is dxvk

#

why tf do i need lutris

dusty fog
#

it translates directx calls into linux instructions

dusty fog
#

reccomended version is 520

#

it's like when you install windowz then video drivers and directx. dxvk exists for the same purpose

#

i have 525

#

dxvk is a requirement for games

#

doesnt the nvidia driver come with directx preeinstalled

#

there's no such directx on linux

dusty fog
#

directx on windows is its own package

#

but I cant get this

#

i have 525.something driver

#

and its 520.something recommended

#

recommended doesn't mean it can't work

#

check for compatibility as their offer a link to check

#

also

#

i have a idea for a new linux scam

#

hear me out

#

let the user do a sudo command

#

then sudo is autoenabled

#

then make them copy paste a command using a button that downloads a virus, it will automatically press enter and do it

#

since the command can be specified with -y etc

#

INFINITE LINUX USERS GLITCH ๐Ÿ˜Ž

#

bruh

#

"git checkout async"

dusty fog
#

yea yea

#

just saying... ๐Ÿ‘€

dusty fog
#

oh wait

#

im a idiot

#

thats how to add it to lutris

#

bruh

#

not really

#

then what do i have to do

#

if you ever need proton ge or wine ge, use proton-up-qt

#

before i can play MAINKRAFT ๐Ÿ˜

but how do i get that dxvk

shit

so Mainkraft will work?

dusty fog

im literally using kali

a debian based distro

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

yeah but im using kali for purposes like programming etc

#

u dont fully understand me tho

#

I can just play minecraft on windows, far better option

#

i'd like to use Kali for programming purposes, though.

#

(and for VM)

#

and Kali for pentesting purposes also

#

I want to become a hacker in the future

whats the freaking difference

why do u have such a problem with running kali linux

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

idc

#

kali good kali life

dusty fog
#

how am I using anything wrong

#

I don't care if you love arch live arch

#

it's like having parted magic and using it as daily driver

#

that's like saying Ubuntu isnt for programming its for gaming

dusty fog
#

Debian is a stable linux

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

omfg

#

debian is a general purpose desktop distro

#

can you just let me use what i want

#

pls

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

indeed, Arch is so good that it tends to crash without a reason and takes hours to configure

#

๐Ÿ™‚

dusty fog
#

indeed, I'm using a outdated router that doesnt have recent security patches

#

indeed I dont have the money for a new one and I cant because i'm a minor

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

but arch doesn't crash because yes

#

no distro does

#

i may consider switching to arch but for MY purposes I use kali for now

#

99% of the issues are user skill issue

#

since I game on windows

dusty fog
#

now, you don't have reasons to get amdgpu pro driver

#

from the wiki

#

all i want to say is thank you man

#

i will consider using arch if i have any issues

#

with kali

#

other than secure display (I dont watch any encrypted content, I dont even have money for it)

#

if you don't meet those needs, then you don't need amdgpu pro

#

alr

#

now i have a question for you

#

do you know anything about windows?

dusty fog
#

hm

#

ill maybe try mint

#

I wanna become a psycho and tripleboot but

#

disk space...

#

๐Ÿ˜ญ

#

500gb disks suck ass

#

in a gaming laptop...

dusty fog
#

o

#

so

#

5 years linux user

#

i have a REALLY big challenge for you

#

"Calculator" VM

#

try to hack it

#

nah

#

damn

#

I have better things to do tbh

#

alr

#

lol

#

just suggest me how i could hack this shit

#

because

#

if i hacked it

#

it would be very very fun!!

dusty fog
#

๐Ÿ˜ฆ

#

ill try sometime

#

see?

#

not having fun of you, but showing that kali is surrounded by memes

dusty fog
#

also, real hackers use more advanced distros than kali. even tails is a better choice

#

if you are just a new linux user that fell for the meme, but wants to become a white hat, begin with something friendly then step by step move into more advanced distros

#

yessir ๐Ÿซก

#

im surprised how good my arctis 7 headphones work here tho

#

i got them as a gift

#

from my brother

dusty fog
#

they are amazing in every way shape and form

#

id rather not for now, it works good....

#

changing audio led me to severe problems before

dusty fog
#

my laptop or hardware doesnt really like that much tampering

dusty fog
#

that's why you need a general purpose distro

#

even kali website offers kali containers

#

ur right...ill just stick to kali until I get bored or something goes wrong

#

you know that a real hacker leaves no trace of data, right?

#

im honestly surprised by how many tools this has

dusty fog
#

how do i do that

#

XD

#

and you failed that

#

how

#

why? well.. kali as main OS

#

i dun know...!!

#

look at tails, it leaves no trace of data

#

why? because it runs from ram

#

o

#

i have 8gb ram

#

kali can do the same if you use it properly

dusty fog
#

i know

#

it's a live CD

#

it writes itself to RAM

#

and ram gets flushed

#

kali can do the same when used like that, also if you use docker, kali leaves no trace of data

#

In the future I want to become a cybersecurity military service for my country

dusty fog
#

so Tails is better

#

containers are a must when doing pen testing

#

you don't want to be found right?

dusty fog
#

you may also like to check black arch

#

so

#

I run blackarch off of RAM?

#

I'm not into pen testing, but you need to learn about containers and things like that if you want to become a real hacker.

dusty fog
#

but my recommendation is to use it live or on a container

#

so you spoof the data or leave no traces/leftovers

#

even if you use debian based, this is a rule of privacy

#

o

#

i feel guilty of myself

#

you may ask: why?

#

because in my past I accepted random cookie warnings and didnt give a shit about it

#

also, windows is not something you may like to have installed as it sends a lot of data about your system.

dusty fog
#

a pen testing and security YT channel made a video proving it

#

they used wireshark and ooof. big L for windows

dusty fog
#

Roblox, minecraft

#

should i just

#

quit roblox at this point

#

i dont play it a lot

#

3 times in a month maybe

#

for a short time

#

roblox is blocked on linux as for now. minecraft is native

#

hm

#

then steam games just work

#

so do I use kali for now and decide myself

#

if I want to switch to for ex.

#

blackarch

dusty fog
#

about...

#

uhhh

#

about like doing archinstall?

#

lol

#

ive used those distros:

#

Ubuntu, Manjaro, Arch, Garuda, Kubuntu

dusty fog
#

it depends on how much linux experience you have

#

i used a lot of distros but

#

most didnt work

#

like

dusty fog
#

kubuntu was boring and i didnt have things configured properly

#

ubuntu was shit

#

arch was nice actually

#

and kali, idk im testing rn

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

here

#

also pacman is one of the fastest package managers out there

#

im on debian

#

not even apt is so fast

#

void's xbps is close to pacman

dusty fog
#

o

#

?

#

archwiki provides a tool for dual GPU

#

.aw nvidia

patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

distros like mint, popOS and endeavourOS provides tools for nvidia

#

mint comes with a driver/gpu tool

#

popOS has a nvidia dedicated iso

#

endeavour also has a dedicated nvidia boot entry and tools for it

#

then add the archwiki knowledge and you may get the best experience

dusty fog
#

wait

#

tho that is out of my scope as I'm an amd2 only user

#

liste to this

#

im watching a video rn about a slaughterhouse

#

and some people in the comments say shit like

#

"there should be 25 years prison for killing animal!!!"

#

I honestly burst out with laughter when i hear these

#

๐Ÿ’€

#

save that for #off-topic

#

ye

#

alr alr

#

lmfao

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

dayum

#

what is vanillao

#

s

#

so you run a base distro, then kali on top

dusty fog
#

but since kali is inside a box, it can't read your host data at all. isolation is a must

#

that's a rule when wanting privacy or wanting to do real hacking

dusty fog
dusty fog
patent sapphireBOT
dusty fog
#

o

#

will soon have a KDE plasma spin

dusty fog
# dusty fog o

inmutable distros may be useful for your pen testing needs

#

o

#

whats immutable

dusty fog
#

ooo nice

#

that's good

#

for security in a distrobox

#

right?

#

on a regular distro, the user can RW the root partition. inmutable distros disable that.

#

steamOS, vanillaOS and fedora silverblue are inmutables

dusty fog
#

steamOS may have it disabled so they ensure the user only uses the deck for games

dusty fog
dusty fog
#

useful for new linux users

#

absolutely not imo

#

Linux users have to learn what they're doing

#

and not be carried like windows

dusty fog
#

same with fedora silverblue

dusty fog
#

hes partially right

#

im switching to linux mint

dusty fog
#

Switched (old photo, installed steam by now)
