I am using arch linux kde with x11 and I am trying to switch to wayland. BTW I have a nvidia gpu (gtx 1060). The issue is that I believe I have all of the wayland packages installed but when I select it on the login screen it brings to me the boot splash text and kicks me back to login screen

Also I was told that you need nvidia-open but I believe thats only for turing and higher?? Does that mean wayland doesn't work at all on 10 series cards?

From what I have been told nvidia-open is trash and to use something else

#

I use nvidia-dkms

#

Don't know what the difference is but I trust that it's good

#

And it works

#

Not sure about the Wayland thing tho

i'm fairly certain you need an nvidia driver beyond a certain version, gimme a sec to consult the wiki

#

nvidia driver needs to be above version 495
