New to arch. Just finished installing a few packages and on my first reboot I'm suddenly not connected to the Internet anymore and Network Manager only seems to be connected to loopback and the Ethernet. Cheers.

Sounds like you've already enabled NetworkManager using systemctl (if you haven't, do do that, with the --now flag, or reboot instead afterwards)do you have a button on your keyboard for turning on and off your wifi device?

random halo
#

I don't believe I do have that button

#

Here's the keyboard

bronze jewel
#

Have you tried toggling aeroplane mode?

random halo
#

Yes

#

I've opened up nmtui and added the connection but when I try to activate I get an error

bronze jewel
#

other thing I wonder is if your wifi card needs a specific driver, perhaps one in the aur, could be worth googling

random halo
#

Hmm maybe but I was able to connect to WiFi while I was installing within the iso

bronze jewel
#

yeah but the iso comes with bonus goodies

random halo
#

Intel wifi 6 ax201 is my wifi card

bronze jewel
#

have you installed the intel microcode and have you installed linux-firmware?

random halo
#

Yes to the firmware. No to microcode. That was after my reboot so no internet

bronze jewel
random halo
#

Hmmm that directory does not exist for me

#

Directory 'drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/pcie' does not exist

bronze jewel
#

it's a directory in the kernel files pre complie

#

the microcode didn't help at all?

random halo
#

Unfortunately no

bronze jewel
#

does the device show in lspci

random halo
#

Yes

#

Sorry for bothering you btw I noticed that you're pretty much the only one offering support for literally everyone

bronze jewel
#

sorry I don't know wifi stuff that much, also struggling to work out how to do something I want to do XD

random halo
#

Lol no it's alright I'm trudging through the forums as well and man everything was so straightforward till now lmao

bronze jewel
#

lspci -k

#

what does that say for the wifi card?

random halo
#

Sorry I'm going to go to bed for now. I'll come back to this

random halo
#

Ahhh looks like the driver isn't there

bronze jewel
random halo
#

How would I find out

bronze jewel
random halo
#

Oh there we go

bronze jewel
#

sorry, edited it to .org 😛

#

thought I got there in time, my bad

random halo
#

Doesn't seem to have for my particular card

#

There is one for AX101 but that's an entire generation behind

bronze jewel
random halo
#

Hmm why not. How would I get it without an Internet connection?

bronze jewel
random halo
#

It's weird though because I can see the iwlwifi right there but it doesn't say kernel driver in use

#

Like isn't iwlwifi the driver?

#

It's just not running for some reason

random halo
#

Done

#

Iwlwifi 491520 0
cfg80211 1138688 1 iwlwifi

#

!!!

#

Ohhh please tell me its an easy fix

#

6.1.29-1-lts

#

How do I do that?

bronze jewel
#

They already have the firmware installed, didn’t realise they were on the lts kernel!

random halo
#

Ahhh man I'm gonna have to boot the iso to install all that

bronze jewel
#

Oh, interesting! I’d ask how come but it’s not my thread XD

random halo
#

So I want to remove the package?

#

Okay. Imma load the iso and reinstall the firmware

bronze jewel
#

You installed linux package yes?

#

Oh you’re not on the iso yet, mis read that

#

Yeah you could just do it all from chroot

#

Remember to mount your root and your boot

random halo
#

Oh dammit yeah chroot

#

Had trouble mounting that

bronze jewel
random halo
#

I'll try again

#

Here we go

#

It's cus I encrypted the partition innit

bronze jewel
#

Luks is all I know, I don’t fuck with encryption, I don’t need it, it just complicated things

#

If I was worried about my baking recipes getting hacked then sure, but they’re open source

random halo
bronze jewel
#

.aw luks

sharp mossBOT
random halo
#

Cool. Do I want chroot in lv_root or lv_home

#

So far so good

#

Okay chroot is mounted

#

You want me to mount boot as well?

#

I'm guessing that's the same. boot /mount

random halo
#

@kind fern okay will do. Wait bootpartion?

bronze jewel
bronze jewel
random halo
#

There we go @kind fern boot is... moont

#

Now what

#

That's mounted

bronze jewel
#

to be crystal clea the command is arch-chroot /mnt assuming you're not btrfs, and instead I presume you're ext4

#

don't think it would've mounted if you were btrfs though

vegancookies received a thank you cookie!

bronze jewel
#

yes, I was thinking of mounting commands though

#

you'd want mount -o subvol=@ /dev/root if it was btrfs

#

my compression is lzo

random halo
#

arch-chroot /mount is done

#

Not linux-lts?

#

Oke doki

#

Done

#

No such file or directory

#

EFI initramfs-linux-fallback.img initramfs-linux.img vmlinuz-linux

#

Lenovo grub_uefi

#

Problem?

#

Installation finished no error

#

Done

#

Reboot into iso or arch?

#

Hmm I put in the reboot command and it says Running in chroot, ignoring request

#

Ah gotcha. Cheers

#

Okay I'm in my arch

#

Ohhhhhh!

#

I think that's done it!

#

Oh you definitely were. Thank you so much!
