#[solved]cant install desktop environment on arch installation
62 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Alright, so, networking issues
what's going on?
you'll have to explain it to me, I'm blind, I don't have all the info
i dont know I was trying to install plasma and then it gave me error on all the packages
before this, I had set up a user
and reboot to enter arch
using grub
alright, so you're already on an installed system and not the live environment
yeah
how did you get networking to work during the installation?
i use iwctl and connected to my network on wlan0
Alright. Do you remember ever installing a networkmanager package?
did you enable the service? systemctl enable NetworkManager
You can run the command again, it'll do nothing if it's already enabled.
it did nothing
Alright, what happens if you do systemctl status NetworkManager?
If the command did nothing, they typed it correctly. The service is already enabled. If they made a typo it would've said the service was not found
Can already tell it's running
Run the nmtui command to enter the NetworkManager setup menu
yes it did through me there, its blue
I think it's either "Add Connection" or "Activate Connection", then it should give you a list of available WiFi networks
I can't remember which it is because it's been a while but it'll be one of those two
Oh so you're connected now?
yesss
Ping google just to be safe?
works
Ping archlinux.org
works better
Alright
letss glo
As far as DEs go it's completely up to you
yep. i choose plasma cause I have used gnome on Ubuntu
.solved
I really like GNOME except for one bug I have with it that breaks a11y
but this isn't the place for that
the one u submitted on their gitlab page ?
