Hi everyone,

i just switched to i3 (specifically i3-gaps-rounded) from XFCE, and i noticed that after a few hours of just basic tasks (web browsing, watching videos etc) my memory would be filled up and my system would hang. This did not occur on XFCE. i3 config: https://termbin.com/468ej, if anything else is needed please ask.

Use vanilla i3 with a compositor to do rounded corners. i3-gaps was merged into i3 months ago.

#

assuming that's what rounded means in the name

try finding out what's causing the issue, install htop or any memory monitoring program and see.

replaced it with polybar

As @random fable suggested, use a tool like top or htop to monitor what is taking up memory. If it’s the WM itself, test to see if it happens on vanilla i3.

alright

Also gaps are a feature in mainline i3 now and a compositor like picom can be used for rounded corners, so there isn’t really a reason to use that project anymore.

Tried picom, it didn't work.

corner-radius = 10;
round-borders = 1;
#

okay nvm

#

it does work now

#

had to up the round-borders option
