Perhaps it is about your display manager.

Check for errors btw:
journalctl -x -p 3 (4 for warnings too. add -b to include only since last boot.)

you could try getting into tty by ctrl-alt-f(1-2-3-...)

-b -1 gives the previous boot

shouldn't need that, as it is discontinued in favor of the kernel modesetting driver

you could try using startx rather than gdm, to eliminate gdm as the cause
