Title. Google gives me very inconsistent answers. Some people have no issues, others have lots. If it's any help, I use an NVMe SSD.

i have been running btrfs compression zstd:1 on my hdd for a while now, havent noticed a difference

#

actually my experience has been a bit better

#

it comes down to what algorithm you use

#

i use zstd because its not too heavy and has a good compression ratio

#

there are others too

how much space does it save compared to no compression?

#

not on my pc right now, but, i havent forced compression so its only compressing select files it thinks are compressable

#

you can use compsize for this

#

also i am using zstd:1 so its doing the compression at the lowest ratio

#

god this takes long to calculate

pallid rivet
#

no worries lmao

amber acorn
#

because compsize is broken

#

it wont traverse subvolumes so i have to do them one by one
