So it's my first time, I'll be using the guided installer but first I need to setup my wifi

I'm on a laptop, I typed in iwctl but not sure what to do next

#

I'm looking at the wiki but I'm still confused

#

There's a wlan0

#

I disable it?

#

Gotcha, gimme a sec

#

I looked on the wiki, I should do the rfkill unblock right?

#

Rfkill off inst a option, I think it's rfkill unblock

#

Ooh that worked

#

Then i insert the name, then password
Right?

#

Gotcha

drifting crater
#

they might have more questions about the installation

fluid ginkgo
#

If it returned nothing then it means I'm connected right?

drifting crater
#

Still might have questions

fluid ginkgo
#

Now that I've set up the wifi i run the guided install?

drifting crater
#

yep

fluid ginkgo
#

Alright, it's testing connectivity

#

So like
Should I separate partition for home

drifting crater
#

I don't really see the point in doing it

fluid ginkgo
#

It's bit hard seeing with that black spot, but I'm certain I set no
Does this look correct?

#

I set it to no

#

Also why there's 2 partitions?

#

Wh
But I'm in the arch install

#

Okay i pinged arch Linux, messages are popping up once it's done, then I go into the installer right?

#

Crtl d didn't do nothing

#

Yea it worked now

#

Alright

#

?

#

This black blob is a pain, but the first one is def my HD

#

Hardcore

drifting crater
#

well

fluid ginkgo
#

It's the ext4 part then it's the sep partition for home

fluid ginkgo
drifting crater
#

That's your EFI partition

fluid ginkgo
#

In those 2 partitions, I don't see the 290gb of storage

#

Oh

#

SystemMD-bootctl is for a single OS
Grub is for dual boot right?

drifting crater
#

No, they're just different boot loaders

#

but systemd-boot is probably better for single boot

fluid ginkgo
#

Alright

#

What is user account
I was watching the distrotube video about this installer but it updated and added more things

drifting crater
#

What is user account
your account

fluid ginkgo
#

Oh, it's gonna be hard
Since i can't see a thing

#

There's 3 options

#

Then enter ... Blank to skip

#

I literally can't, it's behind that black blob on my screen
It's a used laptop

#

I got it because it was cheap

#

Sadly I can't

drifting crater
#

You could potentially SSH in

fluid ginkgo
#

Choose ... . From? The list, and select one of available actions for it to execute

#

Ssh?

drifting crater
#

Can you show a photo of it?

fluid ginkgo
#

It's on the profile

#

NONO

#

user account

drifting crater
#

Choose the first one

fluid ginkgo
#

Then I enter a name

drifting crater
#

yeah

fluid ginkgo
#

Then password

#

Then it should be super user right?

drifting crater
#

Yes

fluid ginkgo
#

Now what
There's 4 options

drifting crater
#

Choose the second to last one

fluid ginkgo
#

You mean the third

drifting crater
#

yeah

fluid ginkgo
#

Alright done

drifting crater
#

Here's what the profiles menu says

fluid ginkgo
#

I'm on the video driver part

#

Im very sure I have the all open source selected

#

Should I go for it or Intel one?

#

This is a Intel i5 3230m, with iGPU HD4000 Graphics

drifting crater
#

You should go for the intel one

#

But I think you already have it selected

fluid ginkgo
# fluid ginkgo

In this pic I had the all open source
The one below it is the Intel one I saw the first letter, starts with I

drifting crater
#

Fair, but yeah select the intel one

fluid ginkgo
#

Ye I did,
I'm going with pipewire since it's the default now
Kernel, just the default Linux one right?

drifting crater
#

yeah

#

For network you'll probably want to select network manager

fluid ginkgo
#

There's 3 options for network

drifting crater
#

Choose the third one, though there's a 4th one behind it the dot

fluid ginkgo
#

Ye there's a 4th one
But its to pick the 3th one right?

#

Its done
Time to test it out

#

Alright

drifting crater
#

You may want to set a timezone, though you can do it later as well

#

But everything else looks fine

fluid ginkgo
#

I'll do it later

#

I'll close the thread soon, first waiting it to finish installation and check If i still need to do some troubleshooting

#

It seems I can now legally say
I use Arch Btw

#

Tho most of the work was already done

#

thanks guys!
