(this is @cobalt sluice's issue, not mine, i'm just making this thread for them because for some reason discord won't let them make it themselves)

cobalt sluice
#

Thank you!

next geyser
#

ofc!

I had to hard reset my laptop as it ran out of RAM, now systemctl status NetworkManager gives and error and iwctl doesn't have a wlan0 option

craggy karma
#

have you tried sudo systemctl enable --now NetworkManager

cobalt sluice
#

Failed to enable unit: Unit file NetworkManager.service does not exist

craggy karma
#

try installing it again

Too few arguments for command note!

No WiFi

craggy karma
#

oh right

#

iforgor

cobalt sluice
#

I might be able to transfer a package file using a USB

#

I can also mount my mobile device, just gotta remember how

#

I don't remember how

#

Oh I didn't install the connection tool

#

I got an Arch ISO, chroot?

craggy karma
#

yeah you could chroot

#

i think

#

you should be able to

cobalt sluice
#

How do I chroot?

#

And what would I do once I've done it?

#

I could just install Arch again, have everything important in a few easy-to-access directories

#

Would just be a bit of a pain in the neck

#

Alright, it's 2 AM and I gotta sleep
I'll check this tomorrow

craggy karma
#

mount the partition with mount /dev/partition /mnt
and then chroot by arch-chroot /mnt

#

but first use iwctl to conect to your wifi

#

and then you should have wifi

#

then try pacman -S networkmanager

#

if it says its already installed then idk, if its not then it should work once you reboot

#

just know im not a professional at arch so i have no idea if that would work

grave canopy
#

install linux-firmware while you're at it, that's probably what you forgot if iwctl is not working

pliant scarab
#

You should also disable the iwd service if you want to use network manager

craggy karma
#

@cobalt sluice have you tried unlocking the WiFi card with RFKILL

#

If those options all above fail than I’d recommend to try to check the status of the card and see if it’s being blocked

cobalt sluice
#

I'm back, time to get to work

#

Fixed with arch-chroot
Had to run pacman -Syy though but it's working again :D

#

Thanks 👍
