So hey when I installed arch Linux using archinstall KDE with GRUB and noveau drivers and Wayland doesn't launch (obviously) but X11 works but the system feels not smooth when alt tabbing so I just went ahead and installed Nvidia drivers (proprietary) and for some reason when I reboot it just bricks it self I can still stay inside GRUB but do nothing else I do have a live USB of archiso so I can use that
Pc specs:
I5 12600kf
DDR5 32gb 6000mhz ram
RTX 2080
Asus ROG B660 gaming-G wifi (something like that)

I also went through the UEFI BIOS and made secure boot be other OS(?) CSM is disabled

#

I can't really tell if my motherboard is UEFI only as I've used basically only MSI motherboards in the past

#

this is a really weird issue and I've never encountered this

just stuck there

#

still shows things like if i plug in usb

#

have you tried alt f2ing

limber adder
#

im pretty sure i tried to get in tty by doing something liek ctrl f1 ctrl shift f1 and etc but couldnt get in since i dont really ever have to use tty

limber adder
#

not sure i just did archinstall since it was late at night when i was installing arch

#

looks like archinstall installs sddm

burnt quiver
#

oh

#

what repo is that

limber adder
burnt quiver
#

oh neat

#

ok then, definitely set up sddm

#

so let's proceed to betray archinstall by immediately undoing that

#

do you have an arch usb ready

#

and if so can you boot into it

limber adder
#

yeah i do but since i installed windows 11 again for now i have to back up some of my files

#

but im pretty sure you can recreate this on a vm with UEFI since looks like my motherboard forces me to be on UEFI

#

ill try recreate it but most likely wont work since no passthrough for a nvidia gpu

#

couldnt recreate it

ill just keep an eye on his post and if he finds a fix then ill just do what he did ill call this rename this post to say solved
