are you connected to the internet - did you install and enable network manager or something similar?
is your time and date set correctly
have you refreshed your mirror list using reflector?
I can't install reflector due to the problem, I'm connected to the internet and yes I enabled network manager
can you show me ping archlinux.org
systemctl status NetworkManager
do you connect via wifi or ethernet?
Wifi
and is that connected?
I haven't run it in around a year...I think it's something related to iwctl or something like that...I'll try and check the wiki
lspci -k should be part of it
This may be useful:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Network_configuration/Wireless#Utilities
did you make sure some of those are installed?
pacman -Qs |grep <package_name>
I think...
yeah
if anything matches the name you'll get that in the output, if there is no output there are no matches
Ok
Ok let me try that
yes
will show your wifi list
select a connection, enter password, <OK>
using your arrow keys and enter key
Thank you so much, I forgot that arch doesn't automatically connect to past wifi you've connected to
@abstract dew thank you, that speeded up the resolution to this thread tenfold
ceg received a thank you cookie!
will the connection they set up preserve on reboot? and if not can you help them with that?
connection should preserve on reboot
networkmanager does
remember wifi ssids and their password key
Do I have to open another, post to solve another problem or is it ok if I ask you guys for something else
else if it doesn't
install a secrets implementing program like kwallet or gnome-keyring
etc
before you do anything I would recommend you do pacman -Syu reflector
Ok
ceg, mind if I tag you in another thread relating to networking?
Ok
What does reflector do exactly
updates pacman mirrors
How do I use it
enable the timer for reflector
two ways, a single line argument, or set up the config and start the service
sudo reflector -c netherlands --protocol https --sort rate --save /home/tom/Documents/reflectormirrorlist
For example will save the mirror list in a document
basically just change the country from that and make the --save be /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
germany servers are quite fast
some even argue you can just delete the country and the -c
Oh
but select mirrors in your country too and neighboring
for me
America,Germany
is enough
Ok
wouldn't it make more sense to do America,Mexico or America,Canada ?
well it depends on where they live
I meant in your example :p
@rotund pulsar is this issue on going or is it solved?
its solved thank you
vegancookies received a thank you cookie!
please edit the title to start with [solved]
ok
