I’d guess if you can boot and get to tty then grub isn’t the problem. I’d check if anything changed with your xorg conf. You can try sway as a fallback since it doesn’t rely on xorg (not a fix but might could get you into graphical environment or shed light on what’s going wrong)

Make sure you’re calling startx as a normal user not as root

Ayy congrats. Ngl the rare times an update actually causes a problem you can usually get away with updating again later to fix it. Rare for updates to cause problems tho despite reputation… Almost never happens
