for me it's the matter how well is done and how the creator is going to use in levels/how often
It tends to happen very frequently in this server, an example of this is when Illy changed her pipes and then everyone else wanted to make custom pipes too, or when Illy released the Ninji and suddenly everyone wanted to use it in their hacks, or when the "Mario/Luigi Start" code hack was made and everyone started using it, or the fact that almost everyone is using the code hack that changes the worldmap walking animation to the running one, the list goes on
She just reminded me to make an updated sprite for everyone to use
i did that way before but worse

Not to mention when everyone here were NWAV fans and after I learned how to make SSEQ's suddenly everyone started wanting to have SSEQ's in their hacks and started requesting songs like crazy 
If it wasn't by the fact that I learned how to make SSEQ's, every single hack in here would be using NWAV
I think mainly due to file size reasons (and it's way cooler)

basically, if i were to ask here if people can volunteer for beta testing, i'd have to deal with things like if i know i can trust them or if they will actually playtest and help me with feedback, rather than just playing the hack

Not really, Frosty just drew a lot of designs and he wanted to know which of them looked better
i thought they may have been "iterations" or steps between them. i was also not sure at what the (visual) differences between them where
imo i kinda like a mix of the 3 last ones:
- the shading shape of the 3rd one
- the shading colors of the 2nd one
- the extra inner coin vertical line shading of the 4th one
ok i made these 3 variants with that,
- the top left shine is on the middle of the rim (kinda doesnt make sense but i thought it'd look charmy)
- the top left shine is on the corner of the rim
- nearly same as 1, but it uses diff colors for the shine
i'm not quite sure, maybe the 1st one since you said it looked charmy

yeah i kinda felt like more contrast could be a bit better, tho maybe make the darker colors more orange-ish and a bit more saturated (if it's not already the case for the saturation)

the lighting feels odd
since the light source is coming from the top left the coin facing more to the left (frame 4) should be brighter whereas the one facing away shpuld be darker (frame 2)

in case anyones curious why there hasnt been much showcase here i just havent worked on the hack ever since i finished making the coins, i've been focusing on other things (and also getting distracted by other things), and my motivation for the hack is pretty low rn, so until i get motivated for this again its likely yall wont see much news of this hack
i also wanted to send this to say that i dont want people to post unrelated things in this thread to ''revive'' it (like how it happened with multiple messages above), because people follow the thread with the impression that they'll see something related to the hack when they see an unread message and not just something like a meme of sorts that could go somewhere else
and lastly just so yall know, im not cancelling the hack, it may take a while to come out or there may not be things shown for a while, but i'll finish this hack because its something great for me to make and im sure its great for most of yall to see aswell

well at least now i know that the song has a similar leitmotiv as the green hill zone theme (or reuses it)

so far its pretty easy, i think at most what you'll be challenged with rn are 1-castle and 1-4, which are both still pretty easy
thats just world 1 tho which is ofc meant to not be challenging, most likely in future levels it'll get harder

Each powerup has its own palette and they can only be limited to 15 colors each
