I think its bloated arm9
Don't directly assume it's the arm9, there are multiple reasons why a level can crash
Cuz when i remove some actors the level stop crashing
On 2-1 i had to remove clock, small clock and coin pile, on 3-B i had to remove coin pile, ninji and crowber
And koopas
And some levels only crash with luigi, such as 1-C, fixed 3-B, fixed 2-1, 2-4 and 2-5, 2-5 this happens btw:
Remember tho that those only crash when pausing the game

Also i removed luigi physics cuz rexy shouldnt work like luigi
are u compiling code into overlays still? and if so do you have those overlays enabled in sprite sets
I was using those but a lot of other levels started crashing when pausing so i returned to the arm9 ones, nsmbe wanst showing wich overlays i should enable for each actor so i didn't knew how to use them
Ill wait till William's fixed source since i think he will move stuff to overlays too, and if theres stuff in diferent overlays i dont need to re-enable spritesets on levels n such

the whole level is this, i got inspired by that for w2-5 too
i noticed i forgot adding the wall tiles at the end of the level, those are needed for the level be beatable, otherwise the game will soft lock and mario will fall forever

also why are you placing paths like newerds 😭 a horizontal line is enough. unless the level is vertical or has a vertical section in the middle

i used to make paths like that, now i only do a line
probably because it also triggers the flag and other animations, and the game waits for mario to enter the castle to do so. and the only way to detect that is to stop mario i guess

the crashes n stuff: nbstp related (fixed)
the graphical issues: head model related
But the biggest problem was fixed, tho sometimes rexy can turn into exy
Ok so i tested, when i replace the head with mario head, the visual bugs stops, so ig im 50% sure that the visual bugs on graphicsl stuff is node related

I use mario armature on it
And changing the body model dont makes those graphical issues stop, only changing the head works
Honestly im not too worried about those graphical issues too much cuz when dm edits the imd they will stop, i was mostly worried about the crashes the had, wich stopped since i added nbstp back

You don't have to change an entire world theme to this, you can just make this its own separate level, there's not really need to scrap an entire theme just for an idea you got suddenly

Well it looks nice, could be cool if it was optimised
The page mostly contains 1:1 ports of models from later NSMB games, they're not even optimized or at very least retouched, they're just the exact same model as their original games but in .nsbmd format
The only one that can be used without any performance issues is the castle model, and even that model has some visual bugs

if you use the junglekusa, then lava will visually change into water, because the junglekusa loads the water texture for some reason
U need to remember to place it behind lava tho, otherwise it changes into water

only issue with that gradient is that it doesn't move if you move the lava with an event trigger (or just on its own like in 8-6)
i dont really use lava with this so it inst a problem, tho junglekusa can also move up
also that probably takes up more vram than a regular texture because of the alpha. so be careful with that i guess

I fixed 2-5 crash, the problem was that there was too much stuff in a single area
I moved the second half to area 2 and it dont crash anymore

The acid dont really glow, it reflect light into a green shade
Lava apears on 3 w2 levels, 1 w1 level, 1 w3 level and 1 wBlackhole level
And the poison apears also on w4
because i feel like the code hack could also have worked by replacing the poison world-based instead of the lava. but i guess the result is mostly the same anyway apart from the particles when mario/luigi dies, and probably objects "popping" out of existence when touching lava (which i think doesn't happen with poison water?)
actually the 2nd reason alone might be enough to justify using it over poison
(also because making it transparent as you did seems to work)
The only problem is lava bubbles tho

The autoscroller is a bit slow so it gives the level a nice challenge

the first platform ends too soon, with a block right above the last/edge tile. then the wall-like structure that is after is too close to the first platform. i think the player needs to move forwards a bit before shooting projectiles
if i were you, i would put something else instead of a star coin there

The main point tho is to make nothing hit mario, since the screen is small it would be too hard to avoid stuff for the ship too

another thing that i would suggest is placing ground below it maybe. it would be a bit unfair if the player jumped on the sides or the propellers and just fell
tho it does make more sense to jump in the middle than on the sides

I think it'd be better if you grab the vanilla desert background only and recolor the sand to green to make it look like grass
Here you're basically taking three different backgrounds and mixing them into one, which not only looks weird but also increases the chances of the background getting compressed

i think there's a function that could destroy the actor (something like "ActorDestruct"), maybe you could use that?
It happens whenever a actor spawned by the cloud that have particle is killed
isn't it an issue with the cannon actor you made? since king bill doesn't destroy itself

Yea thats a reason on why i decided to make it a "secret" level (the secret exit for it will be pretty obvious on the level, because i want to make sure people play it)
also i like how the airship explodes here (despite surviving all the falling debris... though you could argue that they damaged the airship and that it gets its last damages at the wall)
though maybe move the exit entrance to the wall? so it kinda makes more sense i guess? actually probably not because it could mean mario jumps out of it. if that's the case maybe put another warp entrance below the view if the player actually jumps

here the deco is boring tho. also maybe it would be nice to have slightly more complicated structuring in some areas, for example not having only straight walls (they need to be gay walls)

Thats a long story actually, all started when i first added w4, since i didn't really wanted to add a w4, i made it a small 4 levels world, and decided that none of those levels would have star coins so it would be easier to make levels, and when i expanded w4 because i was more happy with it, i already had made the main levels, so i couldn't just sneak star coins there because the levels are not made with them in mind, so on the new levels i added star coins and the other ones i didn't, and then i expanded w4 again, so i decided to follow this w4 style, since it turned into its identity: w4 would only have 12 star coins
So thats the reason why it didn't have levels, And the castle i wanted to add star coins but i forgot to enable it on goombatlas and now i cba adding it via code cuz idk where i change a vallue to enable it

4-2 will be a fun level to work with
