it's also because i got confused at first because it sounds similar to a french word "rΓ΄tir" which is a way to cook, usually chicken (hence the term "rotisserie chicken"). and a freezer would do the opposite of cooking things. so there's also that π
Its probably a misstranslation cuz we say "jΓ‘ tΓ‘ apodrecendo no congelador" (its rotting on the freezer) but the word rotting/apodrecendo is usually used here cuz usually stuff take a long time to rot so its a way to say you forgot smth you should've done long ago (kinda like 5-3, wich i shouldve finished it in 2024 π)

to make the background offset higher, i extended the view downwards, and added vertical scroll stops at the bottom. so the view would technically start lower so the background would get offset, but the part below the scroll stops is not accessible and is only there so the background can get offset. and so it would look like a view that isn't extended downwards but with the background being offset
do u happen to have a list of what the hex values in the level header do?

JPG, I'm gonna say this as a friendly advice because you seem a little stressed about this, you will never learn how to make DS-Styled backgrounds if you constantly expect Jouner to do everything for you or if you give up 5 minutes after trying to do it yourself, and you won't be able to accurately replicate the style of vanilla backgrounds on your first attempt, and that's why you need to practice until you get a result you're satisfied with, you have great modelling skills and I'm pretty sure you can make something great if you're dedicated enough, so please, be more patient, stop self-deprecating, stop constantly depending on Jouner's opinion and don't give up, you have potential, and you learned something that many of us are not capable of doing

I'm not trying to discourage you, I am only advising you to stop always relying on others and to trust your own judgment and abilities

first, here, we can see some weird gray pixels that seem to be part of the edges of the mountain. please remove them or polish them somehow

Yea the gray pixels are from the blender render, ill clean up mostly later since i imported more to see how it would blend
i think my biggest issue is probably the bottom bg, and how it (doesn't) blends with the top bg
they feel kinda unrelated together. and i think i probably don't really like the bottom bg itself

so the cloud bg has a few issues imo:
- the top/edge parts are darker, even if they're the ones that are more likely to receive the sunlight (because it seems to be a sunset)
- if it's a sunset, the gradient feels a bit too strong imo. and usually in sunsets, it has a yellow-orange-purple vertical gradient, starting from yellow at the bottom (you don't HAVE to add the purple part tho). the way it's done here also feels like the gradient is concentrated to a specific space, which feels kinda weird
- if this bg is only used with this top bg, i'd suggest including elements from this top bg in the bottom one
the top bg also doesn't really match the bottom one
- the light source seems to come from the top and from the front, while the sun is at the middle (or so, and from behind. it's not much of a problem and could still work well tho
- i also feel like there should be clouds around the mountains, because here they just feel in front of them for no particular reason
also i feel like the "pattern" of the mountains is wrongly applied. it feels like you just pasted the texture on top, rather than being the texture of the 3d model (if that makes sense). i would suggest stretching the textures depending on the surface they're in. for example if it's a wall, squish it horizontally, and if it's a slope, tilt (nor rotate) the image diagonally, kinda like you would do with slopes

oh there's also the fact that, for the gradient, the yellow feels too "intense" (probably gradient being on the same place, and also saturation), while the orange feels darker (tho also pretty saturated)
I don't think it's necessary to add fog at the bottom of the hills, that makes it look weird
maybe just reuse some cloud pattern and that would look nice
also the further away they are, the more they should feel "foggy" imo (here make them more similar to the clouds' color the further away they are from the camera)

i really like these stone cliffs
actually the clouds were fine before, except for the ones below the cliffs. now the clouds kinda look too yellow i think. the ones below the cliffs now look fine. and the cliffs look a bit red-ish but that might work if you make the clouds the previous color again
it's meant to be for a silhouette level. it makes sense that it would be contrasted
then jpg needs to make clouds have good colour since theyre too "yellow"

also i don't feel like it feels like newerwii. only the space theme kinda (feels kinda similar to world 7) but that's it
World list for ssmb + common powerups on each world
W1: blossom plains, shuriken plant and bubble flower
W2: rex's islands, boomerang flower and acorn
W3: midnight village, acorn and bubble flower
W4: wasted badlands, acorn and fire flower
W5: blackhole valley, all powerups
Wβ: shuriken plant, acorn and bubble

not fully sure about each world having its own powerups tho
imo powerups depend on the level their they're in mostly
Every powerup will apear on every world, but each world have the most common one
W2 for example, its mostly mountain, so acorn and boomerang are best
okay then
Ssmb will be pretty consistent on world themes, unlike vanilla nsmb wich seens to have mixed themes
And if the level have a slightly different theme, the map have a pointer for them
Like w2 beach or w1 red forest
And even tho i blend the different theme with the world theme

i think the game would "hate it" if it doesn't manage to properly load a model, for example when it's missing. so i think that it should be fine, but better test

it seems to mostly focus on platforming, and it's quite complicated to combine the gimmicks together

@remote star Look exactly what i have changed, i used on waterfall, moon much less colours, replaced with colours from the ground that either looked very similiar to the other or just modified it's shade, and fix some things that made it messy (look at mountains, ground next to water fall)

and the normal look represents this world very well

if anything, i would suggest taking the original one, and changing the theme of some of the meteors, without changing their shape
