JPG, i think changing it from gray to brown isn't a great idea. the different colors help giving some contrast and look nice together already. you don't need to change it and imo it wouldn't be great doing so

You know why i believe it's good? Blue and green goes very well with each other, with some playing around with the rocky ground it could've look even better, now you have lava, with extra details which i plan to do later on will look even greater, take the image below as an example what i mean
and tbh i think a brown-ish (but not too brown) version would probably work fine if done right (also yeah it would match the bg, and the bg that i got inspired from for the wmap)

the timer and coins, especially the timer, is an element the player should access easily
if you look at how both screen are designed, the most important elements are on the top screen with the rest of the gameplay, and the slightly less important elements (lives, path, etc) are at the top of the bottom screen, so you can see them easily. other elements that are near the bottom are made larger to be more visible
but maybe i'm reading too much into it because sometimes the top and bottom screens switch and it just doesn't really apply anymore

Zstar, not that it does not fit, it can fit but it has to be a tileset made in mind of that colour or correctly done on JPG's tileset which is clearly not.
Oh and those are not Golden, just more yellow which also do not look good because they weren't made for this colour
Remember, I'm not good at completely recoloring stuff and i preffer to make for ass tileset rather recolour it fully
That's why I don't want to really change that blue tileset from nsmbaba because I know I won't be make it look great

I genuinely don't see how this tileset could look good in another color that isn't dark gray, and I'm not buying the "it can be made well" excuse because I'm pretty sure it doesn't apply in this specific case, the tileset already looks good as it is and fits perfectly in the levels that JPG and you showcased, if you really want to recolor this tileset, at very least use it in different kinds of levels and with different decorations rather than replacing the entire original version of the tileset, because I seriously feel that's not necessary at all

i honestly find it annoying how you, and sometimes other people, sometimes act as if it was rare that JPG does a good change. i feel like there has been a lot of good changes from the base game. yes some decisions weren't the best, but they often either had a reason, or weren't executed well. there has been a lot of progress and stuff done in this hack that i really like
it's probably a useless rant because sometimes you just do these kind of jokes, but for some reason this time i felt this way, probably because the joke was different from the usual "JPG I HATE YOU, GIVE IT TO ME I'LL IMPROVE IT"

what are the differences between the models? how is the powerup change handled? model swap? model swap from the same archive (like small and big mario heads)? palette/color shift (like with Illy's player models)? palette change (like the vanilla game)? maybe that could help solving the issue

The volcanos dont fit much the w5 theme since its not really a volcano world, but a toxic planet, so debri rocks fit really a lot on it
just so you know, the original volcano walls bg had glow near the bottom. so i would suggest redoing that, but with green glow, if that's not already the case

- large star coins (the ones you can spend on the worldmap, also the same sprite used for the "all spent" text)

Guys, i acidentally deleted the Letter A from ssmb bottom screen graphics, making so X-A levels now be X- levels, and its extremelly sad cuz it makes me need to scrap all the X-A levels, but thankfully i made a Quick solution!! When you click a pallete + a bitmap in nsmbe, usually it opens a graphic editor, and from there i decided to add the A again!!

what i would suggest is bringing it back, extending it a little bit, and maybe add one kind of element (eg. podoboos). and since it would only be a small portion of the level, it feels a bit out of place, so i would probably suggest adding some extra underground bonus room with lava in it
