Yet another level for new++, this is the only A side that uses the dream theme so far and I decided on that theme due to how uncanny floating waterbubbles is
pretty nice!! is it the level you showcased before but with a different theme? or simply using similar gimmicks?
also an issue i noticed (also in the previous video) is that b-side cassette seem to make every transition slower (as long as you remain in the same area). i'm guessing it's because of the one that happens while you're getting the cassette, but then the transition speed doesn't change back when taking a warp for example

i feel like the issue i have with this level (well more like elements in it) is that some elements, mostly the big water bubble, and also the end-of-level castle at the end, don't appear unless the camera is close enough.
also maybe the coin placement where you got hit by the amp, not sure if it's really an issue (at around 2:30). and might be nice to add more "coin jump paths", but i don't think that's needed

i love seeing more of new++ so i see this as an absolute win

maybe make him jump to the left of the screen (instead of sliding like in the video). and after the transformation, he could probably grow with the mega mushroom sfx? maybe growing could be part of the transformation? (as in, happens as soon as Bowser Jr's colors change)
also the Ztar is kinda hard to see. because of the rain and background being mostly the same color, also i think because of the eyes being red and black instead of fully white. and simply because it's outside of the camera

Here are some track backgrounds I made for Mario kart wii, they are both GBA Mario circuit and GBA broken pier, I just upscaled them from how they originally looked like in Mario kart super circuit, I just had the thought that maybe they would look nice in nsmbds, I don't know, it's just a suggestion. If you want to use them then feel free to borrow them.

If Koopaling heads appear when they die, why not do the same on flags? I did something similar in one of my mods and I think it looks great!

im leacing checkpoints as they are though since it was already a nightmare making one for each player and I would rather not add another 7 for every koopaling
although I could do checkpoints as well, it would just be kinda a pain to make them all

If u are willing to remake every single player animation then no, they don’t have to. The arm bone and head bone would need to have the same id though or else it will cause problems when rendering the players head model and when the player holds shells
Is there even a reason to play MvsL on a .nds of any kind compared to just playing MvsLO now
Imperfect physics and the balance changes they made to hit stun & knockback without a way to revert them back are two main reasons
Also just the novelty factor of it being OG hardware

They're definitely gonna be changed, the code hack that allows you to have worldmap icons with 256 colors each includes a file with these icons which are basically the beta ones so you can use them as placeholders

making an icon for an underground / lava underground world was really hard

for people asking, the blue toad house slot is gonna be used as the airship level slot and if I end up keeping selectable backgrounds (which I currently dont plan on doing) I can just use a normal toad house as the level icon

also not having the coin counter be rendered on B sides since they dont contain coins usauly, but ill see about that

So I have a question regarding how B sides are accessed, currently when you press select you can use l and r to switch between the a side and b side, my ideas are to either have a menu where you select either the a or b side, or make it so the player has to press a button in the level select and the button pressed will make the game load the a side if a is pressed and the b side if b is pressed
What kind of feel/vibe do you want B sides to have
What do you want to frame them as
How is a similar concept handled in other video games, and do you like the way they did it there

A bit like the character select option, this make you not being annoyed by it every time
Having a menu for it frames the sides more as equivalents
While having to press a button like L/R to go to the other option gives more the idea that one is the standard and the other a more special/secretive secondary option
The thing is how does the player know how to access them if it’s just a selection option
Could use Start on the intro card to swap between them
You could probably put two different texts in the level intro screen, one saying "Press L/R to select a different character" and other that says "Press start to switch to B side"

Idea for Wiggler Wallow B-side: the entire level is spent on big and giant Wigglers.
I actually have another idea, medium sized big Wigglers don't get mad when stomped on, and the mad ones just rush forward fast without chasing the player, this is how they behaved in NSMBW and SMG2, unless those sections where you bounce on big Wigglers were purposefully meant to be that difficult
The parts where you jump on wiggles are meant to be that difficult
And I saved jumping in small ones for the b side
The thing about the giant wiggler is there isn’t much you can do with it, but I do have an idea for it for part of the b side
getting there, this is such a pain
and its only for one a side and two B sides

Each of my Mario palettes only use 64 colours instead of the 256 and you basically can’t tell unless ur playing the game on 8x resolution
