Im keeping most of it secret for when I make the cutscenes and release the game, but here is the short story.
After Bowser is killed, jr takes over bowsers army and chellenges mario to one last fight at bowsers grave. At the end of w1 you do the normal final boss but its against jr and dry bowser instead of normal bowser then bowser jr runs off to the other worlds and does his thing. Then at the end of 8-castle bowser jr opens up a portal to a fake reality were the multiple endings can be accsessed in the painfull hour long level

but in this case I feel like it could add more length to the secret exit path

decided im gonna link the secret exit onto the cassette room, I decided I can make the pipe cannon shoot the player high into the atmosphere where 2-castle takes place and I guess I can also make 2-cannon take place there
so it kind of connects both the levels

What are they and how do they work
they are a collectable that unlocks the levels B side
aka another level that uses the same gimick but a lot harder
They teleport you?
Does that mean they're always in a bonus room or how does that work
You can select any entrance in the zone for it to teleport the player to, so if I didnt want it to tp the player I could just place the entrance over it
What matters is how you're using them
Do you typically have them at the end of bonus rooms that you can't enter again
they respawn in the collected state upon reloading the room
but if the player respawns in the same zone it wont be there
So sometimes they're just out of the way in the main zone

I tried also making corrupted castle tiles but they didnt look to great
so I just did a tile design simmiler to celeste and used mostly the same colours
lore reason it exsists is one you free more and more ztars the level starts to break down more and more
making it a bit darker so it stands out against the castle tiles more

Generally, I think it's for a good part determined by the background
whatever I feel like that day, I usually use paint.net, pixlr, or adobe photo shop and sometimes aseprite

at the half hour makr of the level, or whatever the checkpoint halfway is these tiles start to get mixed in because the player has collected more and more ztars so the dimension is getting more and more unstable

It could very much still be a visual choice tho
Floors are always pretty flat, while walls are often rounded, so it could definitely look weird in some instances if the spikes came out of the walls

The first two min of the hour long level that this is part of. If you think thats to long there is a shit tone of checkpoints and you can select what checkpoint you start at in the level intro. This is what im doing instead of w9 since I couldnt pull w9 off due to limitations.

ok seriously speaking though i think ice flower is just overall more interesting to see, it would also allow for cool platforming if you design some levels around it (eg freezing bullet bills and etc, or picking up ice blocks that you need to throw at small gaps)
I personally preffered bubble flower on my mod because its new and i have ideas of gimmicks to build arround it, but for n++ ig ice flower would be way more interesting so i voted for it

The main powerup this mod is built around, the parashell, the first thing I coded for this mod, it’s a propeller suit blue shell hybrid

Then the twirl is only when the player is in the air and when r is pressed
The updraft overrides the twirl
And can be used from in the ground

I do think holding jump to flutter is a lot more intuitive than pressing both shoulder buttons at the same time

so when you change a file id you just need to reload nsmbe
so this allows for the dupe tile sets to be changed
this doesnt effect the animated tile/3d tile loading though
so any tilesets that do load animated tiles and or 3d tiles will still load them

from what I can tell
each file id is in hex, and then there’s multiple tables for each file a tileset used (NCG, NCL, CHL, UNT, UNT_HD, PNL)
if you want to change a slot’s files, just count it’s index in the list (so for example the first item in the array would be slot 0) and then change it
might actually update this to add comments and etc

That part I know, what I don't understand is which numbers exactly do I have to type? How do I know which hex number corresponds to the ID's of the new files I added?
actually I think u can still type the non hexed id and it should still work
just remember about the whole 131 offset thing
but if it needs to be hex still u could just use a calculator or smt
Windows calculator has the programmer kind so u could in decimal type the normal file id and see what it shows in hex

i have files straight from newerds from the time i believed i could just import the code hacks from newerds (like bosses)
slowly replacing them tho, because they're useless
i also have a folder of level intros, and a folder of nwavs
calling them "file_[id]" is probably not a good way of naming the files tho, you won't have any idea of what they are unless you remember. something like "[id]_[name]" would probably be better

And I remember what they all are and I usauly never need to access them again
Also, it’s not worth the time to rename them all,especially when I generate all the blank files with a python script

probably because they were different at some point. or maybe nintendo used the same structure for multiple tilesets, some of which had variations but some others didn't
you can see that a lot of tilesets have the same structure: walls, ground, inner ground, etc. at the same locations

oh yeah, @ocean pivot if you want you can make a tree canopy render, kind of like the one on the top here, which I could add to the 3d deco actor and use on top of some of the logs to make actual trees
