#Starship Orbital Test Flight
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Do you mean lower
et’s fridey i kant spel know mor
That's how maths work
😭😭
Read this history
Part 1
Part 2
That’s pretty disappointing.
“Thank you for your interest in the Starship flight test. Unfortunately, due to limited space, we are unable to accommodate your request for a credential.” @elonmusk
Not invited.
i meant 10 higher than 15

sumn like that (my brain is nonfunctional)

Awesome
Based lmao
Lmao
Yep
well that’s dumb
I've never liked WAI, he's just kinda daft
ikr!!
Basically just went "consider this: we do not care"
"Reliable sources"
erich berger
Erber
okay so @vagrant moat
you could put a mcd there
how do they determine the keep out zone
is it like due to the noise casued by a potential detonation
and debris
oh yea
Sn11
forget vandenberg, fogs greatest trolling was SN11
Wonder how different the program would be if SN11 was able to be seen that fateful day
YESSSSSSSS
lol
guys
why couldnt they call it Starship Orbital Flight Test
or S.O.F.T.
rolls off the tongue
for me it was SN8
probably not much
sub orbital flight test
i remember watching SN5 at silly o clock in poland
i guess the flight should give us what we deserved
ah
gonna be fun watching the thing through reentry
It won't reach that point
I had watched DM-2 and a couple of F9 flights afterwards, and I just watched some random marcus house videos talking about SN bla bla bla which had zero sense to me at the time, just seeing a bunch of metal rings lying around
I somehow stumbled on a random SN8 flight animation and was like "huh cool" and then found the spacex subreddit lol
guys remember
🥲
By complete fluke too lol
SN9 was the first thing i watched whilst in this server
I am still salty to this day spacex launched SN11 while i was sleeping
I was just checking on SpaceX in the morning and I went to their YouTube at T-5 and I didn't even realise it was launching
I believe the RUD was a deserved consequence
Lmao
i too didnt see SN11
and didnt miss much
r*ddit
saw people talking about tim dodd's camers being destroyed
Pog
and I was like, oh something fun must have happened
I watched sn10 while getting dental work
I am salty that SN10 raptor aborted that one time because I would have seen it if it didn't
And 11 launched right after I was forced to go to sleep
I told them it landed wonder if they ever found out what happened next
heh
I did see 15 though bc it launched while I was on the bus and landed right as the bus pulled into school
that flip camera view 🔥
SN10 was the peak IMO
15 might have topped it if we had good camera views of it
but thanks fog : (
possibly one of the best camera views in the history of rocket flight
though the 15 landing sequence from I believe cosmic perspective was pretty neat as well, from flip to landing
i remember for A1 i kept waking up every hour or so to check on SLS to see if the launch is still on
Wait a minute guys oh fucking lord
NGL though I personally would rate em SN10>SN8>SN15>>SN9>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SN11
yeah id agree
SN9 was just dissapointing
This launch site is literally like 20 feet from the main port of the lower Rio Grande Valley
SN11... we dont talk about that
SN9 was funny
Are we gonna have to deal with the fucking boats again
NO
NO
no
no royal carribean
SN8 is higher purely because of the novelty factor
this is the gulf
remember that dude that like drove his boat on the highway during a test iirc lol?
oh yeah lol
SN25 will be the best
S28/Booster whatever fully successful mark my words
nah they all gonna fail until S42
ah so HLS-1
also whoever was trying to post a photo earlier
you're welcome
it really puts how huge starship is into perspective
btw, are rockets trackable on FlightRadar?
8 pm - 11:05 pm launch window for me - only risk will be having dinner with my parents at the opening of launch window. I actually prefers a late-at-night one (as with F9 - 2:45 am and FH - 4:45 am) but I’ll take it.
window for me is from 13:00 - 16:00 BST so good for me
if it moves to tuesday should be fine
wednesday onwards theres a risk i wont be able to see it
what is this lmao
SN8 patch iirc
thanks it was doing something weird on my end
No
SN8 is the highest starship flight ever
yea
SN8 was fun
people at the FTS
It was very fun freaking out on ascent when engines just started shutting down
What's the bet SB217 won't beat it
160 ish metres
wow
"safe viewing distance"
it could
247 u mean
im optimistic
i woke up for it and everything and was highly disappointed
pretty sure that doesn’t exist
at masseys rn
I don't think anyone saw SN11
Fine then SN31
those cameras better be prepared to never be seen again
as a tank or a full ship
full
wait so what are they doing with the booster post splashdown
was at the launch site doing cryos
WHAT
this thing managed to elude my knowledge
isn’t 28 the one with the good heat shield tho?
and 25 the one with none?
What the fuck is even happening anymore
26/27 no flaps/heatshield then 28 back to normal i think
S25 has a heat shield im pretty sure
this was S25 doing cryo test
26 and 27 (no longer a thing) have no tiles
28 full shield
no way those fly
drink
Where is it
S25 is going to twerk its fat shussy as hard as possible in mid-air until it farts a little too hard and one of its Raptors fails
License for Spashdown on Hawaii
its now at Masseys
The ultimate license
or the test tank site
Should i hop one island over to try so see reentry would be about 3am
What a horrible day to have eyes
Cope
SN11>SN10>SN8>SN15>SN9
There's parts up to 35 or so
really
@undone gull mr watcher of rings ^?
And I think B15 or 16
They have like 8-10 of both boosters and ships in the works or built atm
Right now
17 for thrust pucks
18 should be arriving in the next month or so
based on past pucks
they are working really fast and are gonna start working even faster with the new megabay and starfactory expansion
One part of me wants starship to be the first and the other part of me does not count this as orbit
will probably get to a point of being 15 ships and boosters ahead
still want Vulcan to be first
i mean one contender dropped out the race
wouldnt be surprised if ZQ-2 wins
Rocket 4
“issue date: today”
i feel like someone would make a fake id and actually do that
Exp: never
curious to see how stage sep goes
I'm pretty sure that's gonna be the main area of suspense for engineers
other than Max Q and water landing of B7
what about re entry
We are exploding!
is michael in starbase?
yeah sure, but not a higher priority than the stuff i mentioned
The entire launch will be the main area of suspense
i guess
liftoff will be a monumental area of suspense
so that it doesnt kaboom the whole mount
Yep
liftoff is the main hype moment
makes your hands all shaky and your voice all hoarse and stuff
I think the scariest part will be the 7 raptor aborts in a row
aka you actually feel alive for like five minutes
lmao
Yes, probably to setup autotrack and just for the launch
what will they do with b7 anywya
I think they mentioned doing a water landing
spin n pray!
Essentially
Everything a booster does on land
but on the ocean
probably so that they dont nuke Starbase on accident
yeah i know that, but like are they gonna tow it back?
...no idea, actually
I mean, I would defineitely recover it and take a look at it if it lands intact or not-so-intact
So I think they'll do the same?
yeah, just haven’t seen anything abt that
if it lands intact, i can see them somehow towing it back to port
and ripping it apart
.
.
Are they doing propulsive landing?
For booster kinda sorta
But which they're simulating a tower catch, BECOing and letting it fall like 50m
wai got in 💀
That's not ending intact then lol
is anything in the starship program practical
they want to catch a 70m skyscraper with two massive chopsticks
lem fao moment
I mean, it's quite practical long term, it's just stupidly complicated to pull off
I have a feeling the chopsticks thing won't work
tbh the bellyflop is kinda smart
they did before try landing a cylindrical piece of carbon fiber from nearly half of the atmosphere down into a tiny little piece of concrete in the middle of the ocean
There's no reason it shouldn't, if anything it's easier than F9 ASDS landings
For ship it's a little iffier
But still doable
You gotta land in between the chopsticks and hover for awhile, waiting for them to close
Needs to be very precise and also wastes a lot of fuel hovering
right I'm going to sleep bye u lot
if u rly think about it, it takes almost the same precision to land it in the middle as what you would to land f9
But the f9 doesn't always land on the x
That's by design
Also, I can't believe there are 2k people already waiting on the livestream
all the arms rly need to do is close in. spacex is not going for dead center just close
my brother in Christ what is this
its him
The livestream?
ah
wait what
PLEASE tell me they will have cameras for that
....
That'd be cool to watch
but also
would the booster be completely empty when it falls, or?
I'm pretty sure
carbon fiber?
Close to it
because a 50 m fall is a 100% dissassembly
They'll probably vent the main tanks and run the headers to dry
Or just hover to burn prop like they did on the HAFTs
Just speeding up the process
not really?? it needs to be more precise and watch for horizontal hazards. PLUS it has a huge risk if it goes wrong
yeah this
I think just the hover time is gonna be an issue
same with the bellyflop, imma cry if they don’t
a hovering booster
a hovering SUPERHEAVY booster is gonna be hella dangerous
i’d expect them to have assets out there for engineering data at least
They'll have planes atleast
also a super heavy hovering 50m above the ocean is going to be surreal af to see
my fault i acidentally mixed it up with the landing legs
i think it was aluminum-lithium
maybe idk
How far off shore do we know
I'm hopping it's like the f9 tests
The Falcon stages are Al-Li yep
Also lol shocker, rip 25
I mean it's been clear for a while imo, I thought 26 would get scrapped too
It has no reason to exist
i mean without the fins and heat shield it looks like a rly big soda can
Alex had a much more descriptive name for them
Don't tell me..
i think I know 😲
Fun stick is the og name
oh
no, worse
I can't find it anymore because it's from back before forums
imma dm u my guess
Imagine not having access to the archived threads
Yeah, I don't see the starship one though
Was probably deleted instead of archived unless I'm blind
It's not in #générał-space
Where then
But in the thread chan
For the second and third flights, after separation from Super Heavy, Starship’s engines would
start and burn to the desired orbit location. Upon reentry, Starship is expected to break up and
SpaceX proposed an area southwest of Hawai’i, to account for the potential Starship debris field (sounds like the bare ones will)
correct
https://twitter.com/nextspaceflight/status/1647051819661533187
lmao @upbeat flare
It did work, but I was driving to Starbase when it happened.
it will go, 24/7, 26/9, 27 (first payload)/10, 28 (probably first soft splashdown from orbit) /11 (first potential catch)
Lmao
@next sierra is your website updated
Yes
Shameless
Cool
I am so unimaginably fucking hyped i cannot think straight
Should have written WE ARE GOING
well I cant think straight ever but im thinking even less straight due to the hype
I'm ok
Welcome into the LGBT family

great im gay^2 now
welcome to the club
fuck off bezos
lmao
jeff is gay now
being ninja'd sucks, it's even worse when someone says something even funnier
The (standard) liability (and government property, not applicable here) insurance policy clauses for Starship.
A Starship launch has a liability insurance of $500 million! That's like >2x a Crew Dragon launch, >3x Atlas V 541 and almost 50x a Electron launch
it’s doing partial BBB iirc
THE HORDES shall DESCEND
*Space nerds assemble
starship flight test is captain america
or SpaceX
the hammer with the name i cant spell is the faa license
27 doesn’t exist and 28 has a heat shield right
Oh nah 27 is still around idk where I got that idea
Truly beyond me why they continue with S26
S27 isn't that far behind it and they could've gotten it to the point 26 is at in just a few more weeks I would think... And it actually has a reason to exist
They're so far ahead on vehicles right now that there will inevitably be a couple of vehicles scrapped in the next year or so, may as well cut out the one that LITERALLY DOES NOT HAVE A FUNCTION besides testing the new block
From this document it seems like both 26 and 27 won't even reach a proper orbit and we'll have to wait until S28
So now we pray that the first launch does not blow up anything
so they can keep launching
Uhhmmm what the fuck is that
looks like someone was welding something and the sparks fell down
or some wire just exploded
i dont think so
You could also hear something falling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_YaxHqXjSo
Something fell, maybe took out a bunch of electrical stuff with it?
Or maybe the thing that fell was just made of flint
Here is another angle showing what appears to be some kind of electrical short resulting in an object falling into the base of the tower.
🎥@LabPadre
207
Baswd on this, seems to start from above ship QD
Hope it doesn't delay launch
Possible dearming of FTS as well to check status of tower
UH
LMAO WHAT
We don’t know what they are doing to the FTS so don’t jump to conclusions
That's why mentiomed possible...
I do not think it is serious and will not affect the launch.
I think Alex mentioned that what matters is the launch, even if there are still some "details to be completed" with the launch pad.
Guys
I'm not joking I legit had a dream last night about the Starship OFT
There were onboard camera but then like 1 minute into flight all but 3-4 engines shutdown
And the ones that were on were gambling like crazy
And then my alarm rang
And John Inspreucker was the host of the live stream
Pin this
Just thought in belonged in this thread rather than #générał-space
So what's up with the chopsticks?
lmao i could see that
wonder what the raptor plan in the case that happens is
Isn't that exactly what N1 did lmao
Not 1 minute into flight no
N1
SpaceX about to make fried turtle a Bcoa Chica specialty dish
Yknow I've always thought that Starship is really similar to N1 in terms of the number of engines strapped to it
SpaceX bois have the benefit of knowing what went wrong with the N1 tho so
maybe the problem might not emerge
The problem with N1's engines wasn't really related to the number of them, it was much more related to the fact that:
- N1 engines could literally only be fired once, so it was impossible to static fire them to test for defects, meaning every N1 engine was untested.
- N1 engines didn't have proper safing mechanisms to prevent one engine's failure from cascading to the other ones.
Both of these problems have been more or less dealt with by X by this point.
yeah, N1 had all its engines shut off on the launches that failed a minute in
Yeah buttttt
In my dream the full stack was still pushing up, acceleration was slow but enough to reach space
Atleast thats what was happening before I woke up
YESSS FINALLYYYY, SOMEONE BRINGS TO LIGHT THST IT WSSNT THE NUMBER OF ENGINES THAT CAUSED FAULIEUREZ!!
My hot take is still that UR-700 would probably have been more practical than N1 was
If the N1 got around to use the nk33s instead of the nk15s I believe it could’ve made it
Maybe but TBH that's kinda copium
On one side the 700 was someeewhat simpler in concept
The engines were far from the only problem
No docking, all hypergolic
possibly unpopular opinion: N1 was sick and i love it
Definitely, but the nk33 did have proper valves, so they would’ve caused less issues than the 15s
True
i stg if that falling elevator or whatever it was that happened at night delays teh launch then imma be mad
But also uh... CRS Orb-3 might be indicative of something
Granted they were in a warehouse for 40 years, but still
Regarding welding, some #Starbase enthusiasts are speculating that the falling object may have been a portable welding unit, which then hit electrical cables while falling.
Of most concern, is the thud sound when the object hit bottom on the roof of the #chopsticks break system.
Inb4 pad explosion
Iirc it was corrosion on the turbine blades? I mean the engines were stored in warehouse for decades so I can see why
Yeah
True
I dunno it's just kinda funny to me how many people say "whoa NK-33 was such a good engine, too bad it never got to fly on N1" and then immediately turn around and rib on Antares for being slapped-together and unreliable
Also Aerojet blew up one in the test stand some months prior to orb-3 so maybeee they should’ve checked them
the fascinating thing was that like u said, they were in a hangar for 40 years and finally got to fly on a rocket, outside of USSR/Russia
700 also had a ton of engines on the first stage didn’t it?
9 engines nearly as powerful as the f1 🤯
Hypergolic propellants are a hell of a drug
Oh I hope they’re ok
Doesn’t sound like a nice fall
They blew another one up in 2012 as well
odd
so they are actually planning to fly 2 without shields lmao
why
So not even a proper Starlink deploy on 27? Holy shit, that's disappointing
ayyyyyyyyy
nicee
A little sneak peek of something I am way to excited about 😍 pre-orders start April 17th 🙌

whoever made this image
thats unironically a great render
Up next on bottom gear: can a mug survive orbital entry
james may launches a mug into LEO using a kick stage on new shepard to find out!
We know a petunia can but a whale can't
COWABUNGA IT IS
slowly insert (the pins)
nah just ram it in
can i eat a heat tile
they’re the size of dinner plates so you can more than likely both eat a heat tile and eat off a heat tile
make a cake in the shape of a heat tile
it went up a bit then stopped
Starship 24 is being stacked on Booster 7 ahead of launch soon as Monday.

orbit 2019
I still remember "ready for orbit 2021 if only the FAA lets us" days
Orbit 2019 !
the number of active SHLLVs will triple this month
will it?
FH3E, Starship, SLS
well i guess FH3E is having its debut
but FH has already flown
just not in that config
so its gonna be christened as a SHLLV now
but “triple” sounds more profound
Lmao, beat me to it
It's not bullshit semantics though, it literally isn't even a SHLV
i am a bullshit individual
also tf you on about FH3E does above 50 tons
Payload adapter is only rated to 30
Yes, but as it stands now FH3E is not capable of >50mt, and is therefore not a SHLV
true
i guess
solution: no adapter at all, bolt it to the fwd dome
NSF stop plugging merch mid lift please
it’s a good patch but i wanna watch alignment : (
I still remember when it was rated for 11 tonnes and people said F9 couldn't launch payloads heavier than that. Then Starlink happened and that shut up a bunch of idiots
Just cause the current adapter has a mass limitation, it doesn't mean it will be like that forever and a new one can't be made
I knowwww
I'm just being pointlessly semantic
bullshit semantics are fun
Hyper realistic starship cake
im so fuckign hyped
we are gong
we are gay
yes
🫡
godspeed tubes
sodas cans
We really need to get the girl that does super realistic cakes on YouTube to do a starship heat shield tile one

im inspired and am going to make a scale starship stack lol
noice
It happens around this time of the year…
this goddamn tube has been my entire personality for 3 years thank fuck it’s finally flying
when sqd
probably to test improvements to whatever fails on the first test flight
ship stand moving
#SpaceX Starship powerslide, astra style
this is how bored i am waiting for the thing to launch
shows picture of it not stacked
ALMOST
So erm like its happening then?
On Monday theoretically
Time for we are going spamming
I wouldn't be surprised if Discord struggles Monday morning
I've seen @/everyone pings in giant servers being it to its knees, and this is pretty much Mecca for nerds
And everyone's gonna be sharing images and videos and in voice chat and streaming
In just a few days, humanity will reach to the stars with the most ambitious launch vehicle ever developed. Watch along as @SpaceX performs the Starship Flight Test - NET 7:00 AM CDT on Monday, April 17th from Starbase, Texas.
One step closer to Mars.
Ad Astra
#SpaceX #Starbase
OMFG
Its gonna be so lit
even more so than artemis I (especially because this one isn't launching at 2 in the morning)
I'm soo skipping class if isn't not delayed
im skipping class if it is delayed
If it scrubs more than once I'm kinda screwed
altougth the next 3 school days we have state testing for the last hour or so of the launch window
are you at boca?
No
oh
work platform stand moving
That first pic makes me so hard
Its so detailed now
The little S24 is a nice touch
if it scrubs on monday then on tuesday im screwed
i hope it scrubs until Thursday
because then i can skip class with full confidencise of not missing the state test, more so not missing it but really just they wont let me go
I'm hoping it's Tuesday
im hoping monde
I couldnt be happier that this baby launches on Monday
So did the thing that fell not turn out to be a problem?
Plenty of time to see this time even if we get hit with a bunch of delays
huh?
was that a mission-delaying issue?
That's what I'm asking
apparently the elevator died or something
skill issue, just use lifts
if the first launch went like this, i wouldn't be surprised fr
Just use stairs
24 hour notif is gonna be surreal
Ggrsfdse
so true bestie
Starship-SuperHeavy (Prototype) | Starship Flight Test
24 hours until launch from Orbital Launch Pad A, Starbase, Texas, USA .
said goobers are now departing
will go back
So soon
still odd
Its actually happening?
Yes
Monday morning
Approaching 24 hours from evac
Yee haa
Oh god
mr. X it isn’t this difficult to align a goddamn projector
sure it’s taking up the whole high bay but the rotate button is RIGHT THERE
Mr. X?
What projector
Ah
Last night before we enter the countdown
Big day
Nothing in front now
amazing
truly the aerospace company of all time
looking like a justice concert now
is that a fuckin mouse drawing lines
💀
ms paint for mega bay
yeah this is infinitely entertaining
can’t even draw the lines straight
most sane spacex employee
what
watch sbl
Fuck's sake
miranda:
they’re fucking around with a projector
aand it’s misaligned again
top one aligned

spx logo
they’ve done it, they’ve managed to install RGB lights on the fucking mega bay
the lines are VERTICAL now
groundbreaking
oh my they've advanced to copy paste
they’re evolving in real time
good job spacex
nope they’ve botched it
nvm
imagine they do this
none of those lines are straight
lmao threw it out entirely
you know what else isn’t straight
half this godawful server
me included
yeah me too

Im just good
Wait what where you thing to summon me for 💀
idk
they’ve discovered the undo button!
still struggling with the triangles
woah it actually looks good now??
what’s the intern cooking now
more lines
fascinating
they've advanced to squares
this is like an alien learning a new language
the alien in spacex's basement drawing symbols it knows from earth:
uwu
Stupid fog
If this is how it's gonna be tomorrow at this time we ain't gonna see shit
are you the real alex from nsf?
I sure hope so
glad to see booster 4 and ship 20 are remembered
Here is the person that ran the light show: https://twitter.com/LaserShane
Holy
goes hard
so can we now tickoff evacuation notice?
Less than 24 hours...
@oak sable
ye I saw it earleir in Twitter
Hi Jello
hi step
"What are you doing step-french ?"
😳
SBL now has a countdown clock [ Credit: NSF Starbase Live ]
Chat literally was like can you change it can you change it can you change it can you change it can you change it
So we were like bah okay, let's do it
can you change it back can you change it back can you change it back /s
Teams are completing final checkouts and reviews ahead of Starship’s first flight test attempt; weather is looking pretty good for tomorrow morning but we're keeping an eye on wind shear https://t.co/bG5tsCUanp
178
fuck wind
I'm not sure that's possible
not with that attitude
oh no pls
they just need to build a wall all the way up to space to block wind
simple solution
And add an elevator to the wall
I’m teaching a class from 8am-11:30a CST on Monday, and have flying lessons from 9am-11am on Tuesday. I swear if I miss this launch…
Show the launch to the class
Make the wind pay for it
@Alexphysics13 well seeing as it will be delayed till 20/4, starlink should fly first

imagine Starlink having priority over other SpX missions
oh
Starlink having priority over Starlink
ISS rescue mission got delayed due to Starlink mission
We will make the wind pay

him
He better take a last good look at his beloved stage zero before that thing obliterates it with a pad fallback /s
It wont happen
positive energy
explosions have positive energy
Increaser of entropy
There is no positive energy
Will the energy be turned into kinetic energy(orbit) or heat(explosion), that is the question
well theres also gravitational potential energy
which will all be lost as thermal energy when it flattens the pad
Lmao
yeah its not N1, N1 was smaller and had less fuel on board
I guess both were made by underpaid minions under a ruthless leader
Dishes pointing at the Launch Site
LET'S GOOOOO

time for "WE ARE GOING"
damn that’s pretty
that’s crazy, feels abt as surreal as the artemis clock
LMAO
Yeah we had thought about the clock no clock cause technically Starship isn't in countdown yet. When we did it for Artemis I, it was under countdown
they conserve it, no?
the amount of energy in the system at the end is theoretically the amount at the start
But people were asking in chat a million times so just so they're happy we put the clock
net energy anyway
does SLS have the longest countdown
both
if we lose hoppy tomorrow i’m actually going to bawl
it’s so sad
he’s been there the entire time and watched everyone else live and die as he grows old
Depends on where u start to count I think
its in relation to losing B7 and S24
call to stations
fair. when does it start into count?
i know, but it reminded me. i’m emotionally attached to hoppy
everyone is
hoppy has seen it all
Add
hoppy and i are besties
🫡
hoppy is the goat
FINALLY
😭😭
Question
shoot
If it explodes on the pad and all of the fuel ignites
Will I be able to hear it from here
prob no
Thought not
it’ll be the largest non-nuclear human made explosion in history i think
Even bigger than the Halifax explosion?
i think?
For F9 I know it is at about T-4h except for crew missions
Ready to see the world's largest rocket take off? @SpaceX plans to conduct a first test flight of Starship, in its full configuration, on Monday, April 17. The two-and-a-half hour launch window starts at 8 a.m. ET.
rocket take off?
Starship's flight test window opens at 7:00 a.m. CT tomorrow; a live webcast will begin ~45 minutes before liftoff → https://t.co/bG5tsCUanp
279
real
tweet deleted lmao
Starship's flight test window opens at 7:00 a.m. CT tomorrow; a live webcast will begin ~45 minutes before liftoff → https://t.co/bG5tsCUanp
BFR
18 hours
If this explodes, it might well be the largest non-nuclear manmade explosion right?
Probably not
Lebanon explosion might be bigger yea
A full stack of CH4 and LOX is an insane amount of potential explosive though
Yeah looked it up Beirut explosion was the biggest
0.8-1.1kT
N1 explosion as estimated 1kT
So actually yes, it could definitely take the record
can't we figure out how much energy will drop out of a ss/sh stack
Depends on mixture ratio but possibly
Perfect mixture ratio is 7.7kT if memory serves
ouch
More likely in the 1-2 range
Which would beat out N1 F2, Beirut, Halifax, Tianjin, etc
I can't get over the idea that if sh doesn't sink they're just gonna shoot it
Most Texas solution ever
exactly lmao
Why not haul it back?
how could we do this if we banned guns?
Doubt it'll be more than halifax
Because it'd be full of CH4 and GOX..?
Tomorrow
Its an empty tank, it will float. Can attach a tug boat and simply pull it back
SEND THE A-10
The only reason they would shoot it would be if they were unable to open its valves, in which case it would still have a good bit of prop left (probably a couple dozen tons)
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTT
30mm of FREEDOM
Gun first, airplane second

ULA sniper is foaming at the mouth
MCT
MOAB2
definitely not, but it'll be pretty big
yes iirc
Yeah Halifax was insane
'll be the biggest eplosion in spaceflight history tho
it'll trump the N1 explosion by a very wide margin
but far less loud
||Make sure Gene isn't nearby||
well, depends on the explosion cause, but whatever
FFS
wonder if this is still happening https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1107380559834046465?s=20
@Some1gg Transpiration cooling will be added wherever we see erosion of the shield. Starship needs to be ready to fly again immediately after landing. Zero refurbishment.

they dont have those cheeseburgers in starbase
He's still alive too y'know
He is
Won't happen
Sounds pretty complicated
Transpiration cooling would be rad as fuck but yeah it's not happening
No, that was pre-Starbricks I think
Or at least was supposed to replace them eventually
Not happening anymore
No shit really?

they needed to squeeze the post in before it's too late
the SLS slander to going to get real
sadge
does anyone have a reentry visibility map?
@IEatHydrazine Other companies 24 hours before launch: preparing the vehicle, doing final checks, sensible engineering stuffs etc
SpaceX:

Is a scrub tomorrow at all likely?
a scrub for any launch at any day is likely
the starship launch hype is starting to kick in
im slowly realising that its launching tomorrow
It's just that the way they're talking about it is less "launch window opens tomorrow" and more "tomorrow it happens"
optimism
*copium
i feel like it will and i hope it will
same here
It’s at 6am for me
School is at 8 (thank god it’s not 7:30 still)
If it’s on time splashdown should be around 8:30 cst?
Yes?
ok
I can watch the first ~15 of the window, then from 8am-9am, then nothing past that
I feel like I'm going to miss it
and I hate it
rip
Then I'm going to be flying on Tuesday morning, so I'm liable to miss the backup window then too
Between the two of us, its 100% launching first try
7am for me
i feel like there going to hold and then launch at the time im in school
becuase i can watch for the first 1 and a half of the launch window
then im in school
Oh yeah definietly
I'm kinda half-expecting a scrub
The rocket is pretty tall, so wind shear can be a potential reason to scrub
I doubt it'll launch at its designated time, more than likely to hold for a little bit before everyone in mission control is happy
This would be the only starship test flight I've ever missed if it happens Monday :/
Literally any other day! Arrgh
It isn’t true now and never was regardless of the existence of starship but who’s counting
