i think i got to BR 6.0/6.3 before i got the premium, about 100 hours in it?

nah i got to 5.0 (i think, memory's not so good) in the USA tree too, and i THINK 3.3/3.6 somewhere around there in the British tree, and i think ive got like 2 Rank 2 tanks in the russian tree.

thats pretty good on the experience part then
i dont play top tier myself because i just dont really like it but from what i know id recommend to play it a bit more carefully, you get a rather good gun so use it well, think a lot about positioning and dont expose yourself too much
just be a bit careful

i do well enough at BR 5.0/5.7 (tigers etc) with the light vehicles, but with higher tier i feel like a burden on my team. i'll get a few kills and cover some friendlies and so some things, but thats only about 25% of the time which jsut isnt good enough.

If you have any backups, try to use them
Hell, at top tier you can even take any plane and try to take out a heli
Anything to keep playing for another life

im currently grinding to get the marder a1 and eventually the puma, then eventually will grind out a few jets, i just feel like i die 2 minutes into the fight and its ALWAYS me outta 4 people around me, i must be doing something wrong

Hard to say without seeing a replay or something, id avoid pushing up too much? Thing with top tier is that it's more or less a relfex point and click simulator
You can be the best player, but someone can be in such a position that they simply get the jump on you

Yea probably that honestly
Try different play styles
You'll quickly find that on a lot of maps there's so many areas that are a dice throw weather you'll insta die or not
It may be the case you're going there and maybe exposing yourself a bunch/are plain unlucky
