I've noticed that i don't even try to fight back in air and ground RB (arcade is a bit better though) mainly cause I'm a crap pilot but i want to learn the ropes

Without getting super technical myself and over explaining things, go check out defyn on YouTube and take a look at his guides to dogfighting and check if he has some videos on planes that you are already flying. His content will be air rb focused, but those same concepts on how to fly a particular plane or style of plane will apply in all modes.

What helped me a lot is remembering to not just do flat turns. Remember to use the vertical

flat turning, going vertical depends on the scenario

if you rate better, flat turning will give you the best chance

Anti-CAS is relatively different in my experience. Don't treat it like Air RB.
In GRB most people don't look around when they're cassing, they just look at the enemy air spawn.

Personally I get low and fast ASAP, 9 times out of 10 they don't see you coming.

If there's multiple enemy fighters and you're alone, accept the fact that you'll probably die. If you get high and dive down they'll all see you coming + fresh spawns will also come for you

If you're up against multiple enemies, try picking the fighters first, even if the slower planes are easier targets

I find that going down low doesn't give you any advantage. As the one being attacked, if you don't see the enemy coming, you'll hear them. And most of the time, when people do this, I just pretend to not see them, then evade when they line up for the shot. This way, they have less energy than you, so you can easily gain an advantage and get on the enemy's tail. Overall, not a great strat. Only works for bombers

yes, this is the case for you because you're probably more alert than most players. in my personal experience, going low secures me the kill 9 times out of 10, the 10th time being when I come across someone like you who is alert and sees me coming. (which absolutely does not mean I lose my energy advantage, or puts me in a worse position)

I'm not recommending flying directly at the enemy btw, I'm recommending not getting seen over the height advantage (in GRB), which if you're a good player will give you a massive advantage. When you're coming from your spawn you'll have the energy advantage anyway

obviously yes, I think you are mistaking my point for someone who will fly all the way up to a fresh spawn to head on. My point is, if you spawn, and there's enemy CAS or fighters, you'll have the energy advantage anyway since you're coming from your spawn. It pays if they don't see you coming from 10 miles away.

I'm talking enemy planes above the battlefield, not fresh spawns

Right. So you are talking about picking off the CAS and fighters that are strafing tanks
