There is no real "Best" nation. There are some "Meta" vehicles but you can do well in most vehicles if you know what you are doing, some take more effort than others. For Dogfighting and BFM watching DEFYN is a good way to start out. He has tutorial videos and videos of him taking out planes into normal matches so you can watch and use what he does as good reference to learn from. Aiming just takes practice you will get the hang of it after a while.

For a nation to play just take a look through the tech tree and play what looks the most interesting to you. Since you are new all the "Meta" planes are going to be pretty much useless in terms of effectiveness since you don't know what you are doing to take advantage of their strengths in the first place.

I would say Russia is a good nation to start on since their planes are pretty much jack of all trades master of none through out the entire tech tree till you get to jets. Their props are good at below 3km, have good enough turn against other energy fighters, and have enough engine power at low altitude to out energy fight most turn fighters. But you will be missing out on the F-16 if that is what you are trying to get.

American props require a bit more skill and patience since they are pretty much pure energy(boom n zoom) fighters. I would avoid trying to get into horizontal turn fights with them. You are using your superior speed to run after a pass on an enemy plane, disengaging to gain altitude, then repeat that over and over until the enemy is dead. It is a different experience and play style.

Don't really worry about jets too much right now since you are new anyway, but jets is all about energy fighting. I would strongly recommend watching DEFYN's guide to energy fighting and try to understand energy fighting once you get the hang of the basics of ARB. If you understand energy fighting it applies to pretty much every plane. Good start is to look at DEFYN's keybinds so you can see how he controls a plane.

If you are starting out I think playing either the US or USSR would be the best. Germany next in line after that the Bf-109s are good climbers and also pretty much pure energy fighters but they can turn if you have too. British props are over tiered same with Japanese props but I find them fun, Spitfires have decent climb and are pretty good a turning against most planes except against the Japanese. The Japanese planes are pretty no brain to play you can practically doge every plane in the game if you play correctly, they out turn everyone all you do is just hold up elevator and win pretty much, but everything else about the planes are mediocre. Sweden, Italy, China, and France I would probably save for last and when you get bored and want to experience something different.

The US and USSR has the most content to go through so keep that in mind, if you really want to just grind and don't care about your experience in between the ranks Italy is the fastest way to get to an F-16 but don't look at the F-16 and Mig-29 with rose colored glasses because all-in-all, 12.0 BR match making and gameplay is really boring in my opinion, you just fly around and shoot missiles at people not paying attention. But that is coming from some one who loves to just bait people into dogfights, I play the game for the 1v1s and 1v2s not really what is the next new shiny vehicles, I have been through that phase already. Once you get a few hundred hours into WT you will get burnt out grinding for what is next, so try and find a few vehicles you enjoy playing a lot and play those for the experience of playing them not for the grind, it will burn you out a lot slower.

Take my comments with a grain of salt, this is from my experience. So if you try and disagree then you don't have to follow the advice, WT is free so just do what you like there is no need to follow what everyone says. IE If you like bomber gameplay just keep playing it.

TLDR Don't just play for the grind it will kill you lol.

Once you get the hang of air arcade I do strongly recommend trying to get into air realistic, In air realistic you can take advantage of your planes strengths to win. It takes more skill but I find it to be more rewarding to play and is more fun since it isn't just a giant death ball.
