I've been playing it for a while since i got it, and it did get me through the first ranks of the US air tree as well as a good amount of SL, but i've only managed to make it work in games where i got lucky and most of the enemy team was flying Ju 288s, whenever i encountered a vaguely competent fighter pilot i couldn't do anything.

You mostly want to abuse your engine, id recommend checking out defyns video/videos on it

You have 3000 horsepower, good roll rate, decent MER, good top speed on the deck. Engine is best on the deck but still phenomenal up to about 3000m, and even then still good enough up to 4500m, above that and you start to get a big choked out. You don't have very good rate ability, especially not when slow. Flaps help somewhat in moderate speed ranges, full flaps can help in a radius fight with all that engine power. Gear is still an airbrake like other corsairs.

You're a good boom and zoom fighter with excellent engine power for energy traps once you push enemies down low. If they chase you, you can kinda rate since you don't compress much in a dive, and you're fast enough to pull away from most things. You want to bring the fight down to the deck where you can out muscle them, but don't just give away altitude for no reason, you're still a competent energy fighter up to about 5km.

Kinda depends on what you're fighting also, you wouldnt wanna bring a Yak3U to the deck

that's basically the only one you wouldn't

#

you are faster than a yak 3 on the deck, but it'll out climb you

all you can do is outrun it tbh

like you compress less ofc, but you just auto-lose the moment you get slower
