I've tried all the major emulators across many different types of hardware ranging from dual cores to 12 core i9s. TGB has given the best performance in PUBGM with LDPlayer coming in a very close second.

But when it comes to other games, tgb is pretty bad

IMO, it is stored in VRAM

Because, in my first battle today, I felt a lot of stuttering, and because of that a guy with pistol killed me while I was having Uzi

In 2 battles I managed to create enough cache memory, so in third battle, there was little to no stuttering at all

But if it is stored in hard disk then that means the stuttering can increase if the speed of HDD is slow

That's why SSDs have less stuttering

And M.2 NVMe drives has no stuttering

You can tick enforce global render cache if you want to, but don't complain about lag afterwards, shader cache folder isn't optimized and relies on the speed of the drive, if the drive is slow then the stuttering time period may increase

Other than that, make sure to plug in your charger all the time whenever you are playing

when you store some files on it, it usually gets distributed to be stored on separate cd looking parts
making it slower when you access the files.
When you defrag your hard drive, it basically rearranges the files so that they are faster to access

I can't say for sure how long it will take. Like I said, it also depends on how fragmented your hdd is

Most hard drives have spinning platters, with data stored in different places around that platter. When your computer writes data to your drive, it does so in "blocks" that are ordered sequentially from one side of the drive's platter to the other. Fragmentation happens when those files get split between blocks that are far away from each other. The hard drive then takes longer to read that file because the read head has to "visit" multiple spots on the platter. Defragmentation puts those blocks back in sequential order, so your drive head doesn't have to run around the entire platter to read a single file.

A better explanation of what defragmenting does

And an illustration of what happens when you defragment. Each square represents a block of data, and each colored group of squares represents a file. As you can see, the files on the left are split in multiple pieces all over the place, while the files on the right are arranged so that they are each one continuous chunk.

Your actual hard drive will have way more of those pieces, being much larger than this simple example. And the overhead of keeping track of the thousands of files that need to be rearranged will require quite a bit of time, especially since the hdd hasn't been defragmented for nearly 7 years. After you defragment it now, the more often that you defragment it, the less time it will take to defragment, as you will not have had a lot of time to fragment it again.

In order to read data that is spread out like that, the arm that has the read head has to move back and forth to the appropriate location on the platter. And the arm is the slowest moving part of the hard drive.

#

When you rearrange the pieces so that each file is one piece, the arm doesn't have to move to read the entire file. It only has to move to read a different file that is not stored next to the current file. This eliminates a large part of the waiting the rest of the system has to do when you try to read a file.

@shadow flame the size of the drive and the importance of the fragmented files is also important to the time it will take to defragment. And, as I mentioned earlier, the processor is especially important. Defragmenting is always slow-ish because the cpu has to do a lot of computations to figure out how to properly arrange the files, and then the read/write head has to be moved back and forth between the pieces to rearrange them. All of these factors mean that defragmenting is not going to be particularly quick.

@sullen fulcrum the issue is a process that the task manager usually doesn't see, aow_exe.exe. This process sometimes doesn't exit like it should. Ending it, then restarting the emulator(not the computer) will solve the issue.

Is anyone facing ar bug where your ar keep firing? It happened to me before but it was like few times in months but nowadays it is happening everyday. Like yesterday it happened to me 3 times. For those facing lags in tgb do a little "research" and try to use phoenix os .. Phoenix os gives better performance compared to tgb .. but phoenix os doesnt have smart key mapping like tgb so you may need to manually remap keys .. once you get used to using Phoenix os it will feel easier then using tgb

Though I've got to say the update for the emulator sucks. The developers have balled up everything. If its not laggy, sensitivity feels odd or else people can't exit vehicles. I couldn't see my own teammates, I had to re-start and repair 4-5 times to somehow get it to work.
