no that's OK. Error Code 1 means "failed to launch the emulator"

@agile hearth performance bucket. It has a score for your CPU and GPU and puts you in a performance bucket accordingly

the higher bucket you are in, the more features in the graphics menu are unlocked. To get HDR/Extreme you have to be in the highest bucket.

@robust temple no worries. I had a quick run round the Training Grounds on my wifes laptop and went as low as 25fps and as high as 45fps.

That's quite a range, I personally don't think you are going to enjoy playing on that laptop, it will lag in game

performance seems worse than it used to be a few versions back, I would swear it used to be smoother

@scarlet wadi was fixed with a silent patch in the last version - can you see the message that pops up when you start the game?

TCGB is not, as far as I can tell, a traditional virtual machine

@fading spear maybe enabling VT-x will make TCGB work. I have never tried it with it disabled because I use a lot of virtual machines for work. One of the first things I do when setting up a new PC is to turn it on.

Open task manager and tap on the network list and see which app is using most of your internet

Suspend that application if it is installed by u and turn off auto updates of every application

To easily check whether anything is downloading in background or not, simply check the speed u r getting while ur TGB is opened, if it is around 20 kbps then okay, if it is 100 kbps+ then there is something that is getting downloaded and better turn it off

If the data speed reaches 50kbps+ for me, I feel suspicious and checks which app is doing that and takes action whichever is best for it without harming my pc

Hi, a few weeks ago I downloaded the Miramar map and it failed while extracting (at 75%) because I did not have enough space. The next time I restarted the emulator, I see the map is available (no error or download option), but when I try to play a match, I get an error that server connection failed or timeout.

Clearing cache is the only way to fix the issue rather than reinstalling

also an "expensive" version that does real time reflections but it doesn't specify the method used. But that's the actual code, right there.

so these freezes when playing - I've heard of other people with this problem, do we have a handle on what the likely causes of it are?

seems like the emulator just chokes and locks up for a few seconds

either a delay accessing some resource it needs (memory, disk,network) or maybe bad multi-threaded design (main thread gets locked out)

@gleaming rock in graphics there's like a "fast" way that looks meh, a "slow" way that looks great, and then there's ray tracing which is basically perfect

before PBR, we used to have make make diffuse, specular + bump textures for everything

now with PBR we can just specify the material the model is made of and let the engine do the rest

with water, we have to muck about with cubemaps and normal maps and god knows what else

with ray tracing we just tell the engine "this bit is water"

imagine that

solves so many problems and speeds up development

think of how hard it is to get good shadows

so many trade offs

same with realtime GI

volumetric lights, height fog and all that

ray tracing means we don't have to kludge those any more

still too slow in my opinion, but that's how it always starts

As far as I can tell, they could improve performance in the emulator by compiling the game to x86 instructions, it would run much faster

but they don't, maybe because they don't want to distribute two versions (arm and x86) or maybe they use some libs that don't have x86 versions

android on x86 is dead these days so I understand

I suspect its more to do with licensing - they got a license to make a mobile game,

not a PC game - for those that want to play on PC there is a PC version, and soon there will be a low-end PC version
