Desync is what happens when the movements are outside of the scope of lag compensation or are totally different due to the client prediction failing (which is not necessarily the fault of the prediction; it was working on the information it had at the time which may have been seconds out of date) or the server predicting differently to what your client predicted (mostly because the server gets the information about the other player first before you). The end result is teleporting backwards, forwards, enemies teleporting etc. The teleporting is your client trying to realign itself to the server information. The server is the authority in this case, @plain bone.
