There are some issues connected to the availability of the Vikendi map, as of now, it is still locked. To overcome this issue, a temporary fix can be applied which consists of changing the time zone of your device to the Greenwich Mean Time which is being used in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Algeria, Mali and Ghana in Africa. I had the same problem @woeful yoke but I had to wait for update to come out so the Google client and pubg game are both new then it worked. But yeah try clearing the data/chache of Google play and Google play services in the app settings then uninstall pubg and restart device and wait a couple minutes then install pubg
