We have read many of your conversations since we launched this rewards system and liked many of your ideas. In particular, two ideas stood out from the rest and have made it to this month's maintenance: reward based on percentage of contribution, and set a default UC cap per month.
As you know, we have been experimenting with various UC calculations based on the reporting trends, which may not be ideal in the long run. We have also had very different monthly UC distributions (37 000 for September, 44 000 for October, 38 000 for November and 64 000 for December) and not had any specific limits on how little or much to give out per month.
As such, we are now going to test both of these ideas for February and see how they perform. To begin with, we will set the monthly UC pool to 50 000 and the UC deduction per inaccurate report to 100, and observe the new system to determine whether to increase or decrease these values the future.
You will earn UC based on how much you report contra how much everyone else reports. This reporting percentage is the same percentage determining how much you receive out of the UC pool. If you submit 1 accurate report during a month, and nobody else reports anything during that month, you get all the 50 000 UC. If you and 9 others submit 1 accurate report each during a month, and nobody else reports anything during that month, each of you gets 5 000 UC. This system therefore solves the problem of making it hard to earn UC during months with few cheating content items to report. While this is the gist, you can find more detailed information below. The system is also already live in the status spreadsheet with detailed calculations for your convenience. You can compare what you earn this month with the old system contra what you would earn next month with the new system if you have the same numbers of accurate and inaccurate reports both months.
Thank you for your feedback, support and reports. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or thoughts about this.
Step 1
Your percentage of accurate reports among the total accurate reports is used to calculate your UC among the total UC pool. UC for inaccurate reports are thereafter deducted and your UC is then rounded down to the nearest thousand. This information is used to perform the final calculations in step 2.
Example
▫️ Accurate reports: 2 002
▫️ Total accurate reports: 21 580
▫️ Total UC pool: 50 000
▫️ Inaccurate reports: 5
▫️ UC deduction per inaccurate report: 100
▫️ 2 002 AR = 9.277% of 21 580 TAR =
▫️ 9.277% of 50 000 TUCP =
▫️ 4 639 UC - 500 UC (5 IR * 100 UC) -> 4 000 UC
Step 2
After step 1 is automatically calculated for everyone, a new total accurate reports number is formed for those who have earned minimum 1 000 UC. This number is called eligible total accurate reports and replaces total accurate reports to calculate your final UC. Instead of giving you a lower UC percentage based on everyone's total accurate reports, you get a higher UC percentage based only on the total accurate reports of those who have earned minimum 1 000 UC, which in turn increases your own and others' UC share. In addition, it includes more people for minimum 1 000 UC: several reporters from step 1 who did not earn any UC will suddenly have earned minimum 1 000 UC.
Example
▫️ Accurate reports: 2 002
▫️ Total accurate reports: 21 580
▫️ Total eligible accurate reports: 14 341
▫️ Total UC pool: 50 000
▫️ Inaccurate reports: 5
▫️ UC deduction per inaccurate report: 100
▫️ 2 002 AR = 9.277% of 21 580 TAR =
▫️ 13.960% of 14 341 ETAR =
▫️ 13.960% of 50 000 TUCP =
▫️ 6 979 UC - 500 UC (5 IR * 100 UC) -> 6 000 UC
