#Floating Fox Mount

This is an issue with almost all animals on those round platforms. My Tahr does the same.
I reported this like a year ago and they marked it as fixed lol
Yeah, the only consistency in this game is that they mess up every update and also inconsistency in fixing them.
Updates are never going to be perfect, even AAA studios accidentally introduce bugs with updates. EW does a pretty good job of addressing and fixing bugs that are major. Minor things like this may take more time since they’re not a priority.
Agree to disagree
Maps don't even work on one of the devices they released on, and you need workarounds to make menus and zoom work. It has been that way since release.
And what device is that? I’ve played on PlayStation and Xbox, and maps, menus, and zoom worked just fine for me on both.
pc, trackpad
If you try to scroll it just starts scrolling and never stops. You have to disable scrolling in device settings to make the game playable. You can rebind scope zoom (I use + and -) and the menus have scroll bars, but maps have no such luxury. @timid vine
I've searched this discord and dm'd a few people I saw who mentioned it in past months/years for possible fixes, nothing yet. Same on steam. If you report it with tickets they just mark it as resolved and ignore you
Well that I have no solution for that, but seeing as the game wasn’t ever really intended to be played with a touchpad, I’d see the issues that come with it
That's a pretty common computer accessory. Similarly, it's sold on gaming laptops, one of the most common ways to play games. If they didn't design it with touchpads in mind, that's a BIG oversight.
Update: Asking a few days ago here reminded me to submit another ticket, this time they asked for a DxDiag file. In the past, they only asked for a video once. Maybe god exists.
To be fair 9 years ago touchpads weren’t really thought about when it came to high performance gaming, back then they were more a gimmick thing if they were implemented for a game at all.
Ive played almost exclusively touchpads on gaming laptops for well over 10 years, the only games ive ever played that didnt work were COTW, elden ring, and KCDII. Edit: and the release version of HOI4, but they fixed that
gaming laptops have existed since atleast the early 2000s and it is exceptionally rare to find a game with a touchpad-related glitch. its okay to say Ava just dropped the ball
Possibly but it was only in 2020 when touchpads became comparable to mice in functionality. Before then the games they were good for were strategy or casual games that didn’t rely on precision.
why do you say that? It was perfectly fine using them in shooters before. For example, COTW in 2017. Or Quake on the original Alienware Area51, whichever you prefer
“Good for”, sure you could use them but a mouse would still be more accurate at that point.
Why do you say that? Its just a skill you learn.
Latency.
I never noticed a difference, but Ill concede that may have been real. To be honest ive never had to think about latency in general.
I had a crap laptop as a kid (2008ish), you’d move your fingers on the trackpad and the mouse would follow a second later. Made playing even games like plants vs zombies painful.
I didnt have that problem, but admittedly I only ever really used gaming laptops until 2012~ish. The big improvement from my perspective was the trackpad size, old ones were sometimes just a couple inches across.
Obviously they’re better now but I’d upgraded to a desktop by that point.
I had to use a mouse at a desktop for something work related recently, it felt so sluggish and unwieldy that I cant see myself ever voluntarily using one again. I only use gaming laptops for that sort of thing, and keep a controller handy for if im using an emulator.
Work desktops are cheap junk that’s for sure. Can you use your controller for Cotw in the mean time?
Tbh Ive never thought to try. Controllers for FPS never something I really enjoyed. But I am level 60 in COTW, I enjoy the game tons! I just cant use the map. Its a switch controller so idk if it would even work for COTw
I think there is controller support but I’ve not personally tried it, definitely understand the controller for an fps thing tho, always feels weird and slow.
its not like the game is unplayable (if you know the workarounds) but id certainly be happier if I didnt have to 1. disable scrolling 2. rebind keys and 3. had a working map.
Id probably play emulated games on keyboard and trackpad too if rebinding analog sticks was more feasible lol
It says it has full Xbox controller support so that would be feasible, unfortunately I wouldn’t hold my breath on trackpad support coming any time soon, console players have been asking for keyboard and mouse support for years.
Its not really "support" (since trackpads are mice and deliver most of the same inputs) it is merely one specific bug. Luckily, though, they asked for a diagnostic file this time so thats a start. Most of the time they just ignored it and later marked it resolved, or one time asked for a video and then marked it resolved.
for most games where this happens its a non-issue, since most games allow full rebinds. That would also be a fix.
Would be nice. Uncertain what is feasible with this game’s spaghetti code and the devs focus on dlc. (Though that might be a publisher driven thing).
Can we js talk abt the fox for a moment?
It’s been an issue since they released the newest trophy lodge dlc, there’s also some of the larger mounts that sink into the ground. I’m sure it will be fixed at some point but I doubt it’s priority.
It's because u changed the platform thing
im talking abt how dope it looks but ok
Why would we focus on that in the bug report channel?
