I've been noticing on sundrapartian I'm having animals during thier zone times walking away while the card tool tip says they are calm drinking/eating and this seems to be happening with map spawn diamonds and rares/uncommons.
I have a level 5 blue sheep drinking calm walking away from the drink zone up hill into the trees.
I also had a level 3 straw tahr eating walking away from the feed zone calm eating. They are still on my map can provide whatever information I can to help resolve this.

This has been an issue for quite a few updates. Non specific to level/species/class/gender, it seems.
I will note, it more often happens when you or another predator has recently spooked the animals. Even in the context of hitting main menu and trying to re-calm the populations, this can occur.

Very much appreciate the reply. I'm not seeing the animal spooked and its the only one in the heard/drink zone doing it. If I spawn at a tent like 275 meters away. Animal hasn't alerted or attentive nothing. Just kinda spawns at the water hole then paths away calmly drinking away from the zone.
The only tiger in the area is a female that feeds during thier drink time and is a good 300 meters away at that time.

Blue sheep have been doing that walking up the hill drinking thing since Sundar release, so that's not new. Tahr walking when feeding I have also seen, just a few quirks that the game has.

I’m gonna have to agree with Kip, here. This is pretty normal behavior in game, for some species more than others. Mule deer love to do it too, as another example. I think it may be part of some realism mechanic. You’re just going to have to get lucky with your timing on that one.
Other sheep are fine too, I assume? They will spook 280yds out, just fyi. Your mileage may vary, I know I’ve run across folks who say 230-250 but in my experience things will still spook if I even have it 275 away from the zone. Ya may tweak your tent placement to see if that’s affecting the animal at all. I’ve had to put them 300yds out before.

Imma get him at the feeder. But I put one down at the drink zone and there's a barrisanga feed zone right there. Even tried putting a box feeder on one end and the mineral lick on the other. So I followed where they path out and put one there. Attracted the rest but not the level 5.
I hope he isn't walking away feeding..
