Gorilla are not only protected and endangered and everything with trading there parts or killing them is really illegal but they are also highly social intelligent humanoid creatures to the point where they are able to learn fluent sign language.
Such an animal just does not fit into a hunting game if you ask me, killing gorillas wouldn't only feel wrong for the majority of people but it would also completely kill any feeling of realism this game has left imo

Not comparable at all, other similar animals are actively hunted, snow leopards were legal until a few decades ago and tiger hunting has been discussed multiple times. Big cats are also neither humanoid nor highly intelegent

Last I checked Humans are not closely related to Snow Leopards or Tigers. Gorillas are one of our closest living relatives and are a huge victim of Bushmeat poaching in Central Africa. Also, Snow Leopards are not an endangered species, rather they’re considered Vulnerable.
