You have the reason. I like the old model more because it has a good body form. The new model is chubby.
have they changed red deer behavior with model change?
I dont think so, no
i dislike the new roe deer, they have ugly faces now, they used to be cute.
The old Roe deer looked plastic and were hideous, the new ones actually resemble Roe Deer.
The remastered Roe Deer looks like Roe Deer in real life
About the Red Deer here some information i found on Wikipedia
The males of many subspecies also grow a short neck mane during the autumn. The male deer of the British Isles and Norway tend to have the thickest and most noticeable manes. Male Caspian red deer (C. e. Maral) and Spanish red deer (C. e. Hispanicus) do not carry neck manes. Male deer of all subspecies, however, tend to have stronger and thicker neck muscles than female deer, which may give them an appearance of having neck manes. Red deer hinds (females) do not have neck manes.
The new models look like they’re based on the Caspian red deer which are one of the subspecies we don’t have a reserve for ( map of subspecies range and a photo of the Caspian red deer). Hirschfelden especially should have stags with manes as they would have the Central European red deer and the map is set in autumn, New Zealand would be another map where stags would not look out of place with them, heck the only reserve where no manes would be 100% justified would be Cuatro as they would have the Spanish red deer.
why the developers can't go back to using the previous red deer model with neck mane for maps like hirsch and te awaroa and keep the scottish one without manes
