Wood Pigeons in Salzwiesen and Cuatro Colinas

Since the new woodcock was added, I was thinking we could use a similar model for the wood pigeon, with flying behavior similar to the tufted duck and the goldeneye. They could lower themselves toward decoys placed on the ground or even on top of trees.

If this ever goes into development, I think African Green Pigeons could also be added to the savanna map using the same mechanics. I believe Spanish and Portuguese players would really appreciate this idea.

Habitat:
The wood pigeon is characteristic of wooded areas, and its food is obtained in these locations — acorns and olives — but it also feeds on cereals in open areas.

Feeding Factor:
Presence of cork oak forests with large areas cleared of underbrush;

Behavior
The wood pigeon is a cautious, flock‑oriented bird that follows a predictable daily routine. At dawn it leaves dense forest roosts and travels in groups to open fields to feed, returning to semi‑wooded areas during midday to rest. Highly alert, it flushes quickly when disturbed, often causing the entire flock to take off at once. Its movements are fast and direct, and outside the breeding season it becomes strongly gregarious, forming large feeding and roosting groups.

Need Zones

Feeding Zones
-Montado with clean ground (acorn feeding).

-Olive orchards (olive feeding).

-Cereal fields (grain feeding).

-Open areas with scattered trees.

These become need zones with time windows like:

-Feeding: 06:00–09:00 & 16:00–19:00

-Drinking: 09:00–10:00

-Resting: 10:00–15:00

There for the best maps for this species at the moment would be Cuatro Colinas, Hirschfelden and Salzwiesen.
