Hi team,
When playing with a headset, I turn SFX volume to maximum so I can hear subtle cues like footsteps, rustling, and animal calls. However, this links everything together on the same volume level, so gunshots, reloading sounds, hammer cocking sounds, challenge-completion notifications, and even clothing brushing against bushes become extremely loud and uncomfortable.
Gunshots in particular are much louder than any other SFX, and the notification “ding” for missions can be painfully sharp at high SFX levels. It forces players to choose between either:
- hearing important audio cues, or
- protecting their hearing from very loud gunfire and equipment sounds.
It would be a major quality-of-life improvement to allow finer control over sound categories. For example:
- Footsteps / animal noises (quiet, subtle sounds)
- Gunshots
- Reloading & equipment handling
- UI / notifications
- Clothing and brush sounds
Being able to lower the volume of gunshots, reloads, and UI sounds while keeping footsteps and animal audio high would make the game dramatically more comfortable, especially for headset users or anyone with audio sensitivity.
This would be a huge accessibility and comfort update, and I know a lot of players would appreciate it.
Thank you for considering it — it would genuinely improve the hunting experience.
