I just started playing the new Scotland map, and one of the first missions it gives you asks you to down a male Fallow Deer from a crouched position, and I got two of them while crouched and it didn't cross that off the Mission Objectives list. there are no other requirements for it; it doesn't say to do it at a specific time, in a specific location, to get a specific score or medal or to pass the harvest check. I passed the Harvest Check on both and both were Silver.

I would like to assume both, but if not then definitely when I shot. does it have to die while I'm crouched, as well?
I do know the wording for the mission is different than others. it says "take down" a fallow "from crouched position", instead of something like "harvest a fallow deer downed while crouched" which is similar to how past missions would be worded. so does that imply you have to remain crouched while it runs off if you didn't immediately down it?
or does it mean it has to go down immediately? because if that's the case, I would have worded the mission "drop a fallow deer while crouched" to prevent any misunderstandings
which might be why I didn't get credit for the roe, either; I crawled into its zone while it was resting and hit it from 24m/yds. which is within the 30 range it wants, but it got up and ran for a bit afterward. does that one have to go down immediately too? because the last part of the mission implies we need to get a red deer with a single lung and we know that's not going down immediately unless I also get spine with it, which I don't typically do on purpose

I suspect this might be something where the mission text doesn't quite align with the logic. So, in the case of "down a male fallow deer from a crouched position" what that might actually mean is "be in a crouch stance when a male fallow deer that you shot dies".

can confirm, just completed it and it does indeed want it to drop instantly. the Mission Complete, Reward and Voiceover triggered as soon as it dropped before even going to harvest it.

I just got the crouched kill on the Fallow, I shot it while crouched, it wasn't an instakill, but I didn't stand up until the animal passed away and it counted for the mission
Needless to say, the game was restarted between the previous attempt and now
