As title,

Game size is currently 108gb (roughly) on steam. By enabling individual dlc map downloads we can utilise our space better. With future maps on the way the download size will continue to grow.
This would be helpful for those who don’t have all the dlc purchased/don’t play every map.

I have to uninstall cotw frequently to do work and then reinstall it, it’s frustrating and I’m sure I’m not the only one with this issue.

If you’re on steam you should be able to uninstall any purchased DLC at least, select Cotw (don’t start it) look in the right column beside featured that has FRIENDS WHO PLAY and ACHIEVEMENTS and scroll down to DLC section click the “manage my X dlc” click the checkmark of any dlc you don’t want installed to uninstall it (no checkmark means it’s not installed) but yeah it would be nice to opt out of the multiplayer dlc stuff or have multiplayer be a separate download entirely.

You should be able to if not from the previously mentioned ways you can also look into right clicking the game title select Properties go to DLC and uninstall it from there. Otherwise the purchased single player DLC would be adding way more GB to your download.

Like, it really is a bit nuts that we have to download all this extra content automatically. It needs to be optional, after tomorrow theres a good chance I wont have enough space left on my pc to update the game anymore.

100gb is a serious amount of space for a game

COTW is not done that way. All of the game (DLC files as well) are technically there when you get the base game. You do not have to download anything on Steam after buying DLCs - they are immediately available in the game as the DLCs are basically "unlocks" versus the more classic add-on download.

While it's definitely increasing everyone's file size, there's lots of reasons they designed it this way no doubt to ensure a reliable/matching experience for everyone regardless of DLC purchase. It would definitely be cool if they could rework the system to be a bit more flexible but that is not going to be an easy undertaking if they do it.

Even if this could be done I don't EW would do it as this would essentially be allowing players to do a map reset whenever they fee like it .......
