#Make proper clothing matter ... A simple solution.

With shadow. In COTW, we are literally ghosts with fake arms.
true ... but that's another issue .... https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1184097697305727016
Body Temperature, Hydration, and Appetite
These features will further complicate the weight limit by adding food and water. The backpack is still available in COTW. I want to add them. Just like real life
Cotw is a hunting sim/arcade it’s not a survival game
I’d love some light survival elements added in the game. CotW’s gameplay loop is pretty basic as it is and I don’t think it would hurt at all to include basic warmth / heat and hydration mechanics.
I would like these mechanics to matter a little more than they did in Classic where they are easily ignored however. I doubt it would be much of a challenge except on the harshest of maps (Medved for extreme cold and Rancho del Arroyo for arid conditions).
CotW is pretty firmly in the arcade category I think, that is exactly the reason I would like to see some simulation elements included into the game as for me personally the game is far too easy.
I’d prefer to see a camo rating before they add temperature mechanics, it would give the devs time to build up the clothing options as well that way
In COTW, you can run without suffering fatigue (acquired skill) and which is unrealistic.
I deliberately do not use any perks that decrease player noise, visibility, fatigue etc. The game is so easy as it is that I feel it removes all immersion from the game when using them.
Anyway, I would pay good money for a proper modular clothing system as we saw in theHunter: Classic.
I think all current outfits in the game can be broken up into thier individual components with camouflage ratings added to them. It’s a system I’ve been hoping to see in CotW since the beginning but I think it would work really well if released alongside a trophy picture update.
I love playing dress up and taking cool trophy shots so the two features would work really well together as they did in Classic.
I think some clothes aren’t proper camouflage, like the savanna and Australia ones, and this should make it harder to stay invisible.
Less of an arcade than big buck Hunter, but less of a sim than way of the Hunter or classic neither of which have hunger or thirst mechanics
Yes give us something like the survival mechanics in classic
I’d like “light” survival elements, Classic did have a water bottle, though you could not die of thirst. That’s the kind of mechanics I would like to see.
One question: will there be new clothing with the new Scotland reserve map?
Doubt it nothings been announced but I could be wrong
I was hoping for a tweed stalking suit, though it doesn’t look like it.
I think that with fast travel and having many tents, this makes survival mechanics irrelevant for EW.
Classic had tents and they worked similarly
Imo It would either not be relevant enough that players would just ignore the mechanic or become an annoying thing that forces you to fast travel constantly if you don’t want to carry the weight.
That’s true, I forgot about fast travel because I also deliberately do not use tents too. The hardest part of the game should not be the player not engaging with half the mechanics to make the game more of a challenge IMO but whatever I guess 😅
The point of this post was just to add a simple mechanic to make appropriate clothing meaningful other than cosmetic
Dehydration is related to proper clothing. It also depends on whether I am in the shade or not. Wearing heavy clothing in hot and arid terrain is difficult and causes high dehydration.
Honestly they should just add an animal sensitivity level in settings, maybe 1-5 with 5 causing the highest spook radius and making animals more aware of scent in the wind and sound. A semi difficulty meter if you will. Could also have one for animal aggression.
Sorry, I was getting way off track with similar mechanics. I think a decent clothing system would go a long way in creating a more immersive experience while also finally giving the player more customisation which is only ever a good thing.
I would love to see a system similar to the current weapon customisation where we can choose from the existing selection of camouflages for player clothing. I’m unsure how this could work exactly when matching a camo to a maps environment however.
But yeah it would be nice to see the clothing have utility, some outfits might be a nice reward for weekly challenges occasionally too
New challenge = new clothing
I hope it!
Various hunting clothing

In this video, we will explore some antique and reproduction hunting clothing from the period of 1890 to 1950. Join me as I showcase a variety of authentic outfits designed for hunting deer, ducks, squirrels, rabbits, and more, representing early 20th-century styles. Each ensemble will be examined for its unique features and functionality, refle...
I’d love some more old school hunting oufits. A few that fit the settings of some of the older reserves would be nice too. The outfit in the video would be great on NEM. I’d kill for a traditional German hunting suit for when I play Hirschfelden lol
Would also be cool for camo levels to work differently for various species, having the red plaid be less effective for birds but effective for mammals (as birds can see red and most mammals can’t) for example.
Could work for different camo patterns too, waterfowl camos and deer camos for example are quite different as each species has very different eyesight.
Also, include clothing in the loadouts
Camo is kind of overrated as most animals are color blind anyway .... Like for example you never see anyone hunting in a gillie suite .... That's sniper gear not for hunting .... In places like Africa and humid south east Asia they don't use camo at all ....
Camo rating would also limit clothing variety .... slow movements and wind direction/scent is much more important IMO
As far as i remember Classic has atleast 1 map with a hydration mechanic
And while i agree Camo is overrated a good Camo helps breaking Up the Hunters Silhouette. So i would really like to see atleast a basic mechanic for this.
It’s birds that camo is most important for as their color vision is better than even ours, that’s why waterfowl hunters aren’t required to wear orange in my state as it would blow your cover. I don’t see the harm in having a small boost to your hidden status if you use camo correct for the environment.
