Why is there no calls for certain animals like the bison and European bison? Kinda annoying that I can't set up and call them in like anything else.

I’d imagine it might have something to do with the fact they’re big, slow, dumb animals that are incredibly easy to find + shoot. Anything else would probably make it way too easy

There are species that just aren’t hunted with callers irl as it isn’t effective/doesn’t work. Bison, goats, and sheep are just some of the species in game that reflect this.

All these animals move in fairly large groups and unlike deer they are very cut and dried socially.

If it makes you feel any better you can go out in a field and bawl like an old pature cow and the whole herd will come to see youm

Domestic animals yeah, wild ones not so much. Cattle are weird and will come check out a lot of weird noises

It works with bison too, seen a bunch of tourists in Yellowstone get way more attention than they wanted from it

Never tried it in Yellowstone myself but I’m not an idiot so there’s that.

Still never seen calling used when hunting em but they aren’t the brightest animals.

Yeah, takes a special kind of stupid. But animals can be made curious in a bunch of ways. I have a friend who read a book about fur trappers on plains hunting pronghorn by lying on their backs and kicking their feet in the air.

Somehow it works, we had 4 bucks and a handful of does move about 200 yards closer

Honestly some pronghorn decoys wouldn't be a bad idea

Fawn as a predator decoy and buck as a challenge decoy for rutting bucks

Yeah there was a thread about decoys a little while back, didn’t mention pronghorn but it was mentioned it might be a new thing to attract species in game and possibly rework the scents to work in conjunction with em

Unfortunately threads die pretty quick now with the new rules not that I blame the no boosting rule but the sort by activity not being the default option was a major blow

Buying scent wicks in packs of five and ten, applying the scent you want and placing them down like a decoy or the e-caller to do scent hunting

Yeah, I feel like a scent system like this combined with decoys would be awesome for hunts in thicker woodland areas

I've seen this used in buffalo hunts to get their curiosity
