Replace the mosaic and acromelanistic furs for moose

Simply put I think these fur types are genuinely awful for moose

One being completely fictional (and isn’t a GO fur so the excuse of it being a GO doesn’t justify its existence)

The second being that acromelanism isn’t even found in cervids at all, it would have made more sense for them to put acromelanism on coyotes or European rabbits since it’s present in their relatives

Some people might argue we don’t have pitch black snow leopards and tigers aswell, which admittedly is a fair response…but melanism does exist in the panthera genus which tigers and snow leopards belong to so it’s not as ludicrous as having a moose with acromelanism

The mosaic also brings up questions on what actually differentiates a GO from just a rare if more of these furs get added into the future if they keep adding fantastical rare furs when they aren’t GO exclusive

Acromelanism should have been leusism for the moose

Mosaic should be made into more of a piebald, and before people say we already have piebalds so it’s pointless, I remind you that raccoons have grey piebald, blonde piebald

And the mocha moose which for all intents and purposes is just piebald so I think mosaic being more along the lines of piebald isn’t pointless

AND THEY REPLACED THE BROWN HYBRID FOR CANADA GOOSE WITH WHITE HYBRID SO DONT EVEN SAY ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE FURS

I’m willing to believe some things for the sake of it’s a game but I draw the line at an acromelanistic moose

It would be like adding a blue fur type for red deer imo

When they announced new furs I was very hopeful this pattern would end up in the game unfortunately I was disappointed

Could’ve also done blonde (which is suspected to be a form of leucism in them) but yeah I’m getting tired of the fantasy furs almost all the great one wolves look like dog hybrids

The Mule deer GO furs also look awful because they make no sense at all

And these kinds of furs clash with the other GOs like red deer, fox and pheasant which all look like they could be real animals

My problem with the pheasant is the models themselves with their legs mainly, and the one that has stripes on the wattles, some of the foxes are ok but the cherry blossom and candy cane are out there…

A bit unrelated but a quote from Peter Jackson says that the best way to convince someone something that is fake is real is to make it as based on reality as humanly possible

The brown hybrid Canada geese are still brown hybrid, they replaced bald leucistic with white hybrid, but I definitely agree the mosaic moose in particular is just weird and doesn’t even look that good, especially with the perfectly straight lines down its side

They could’ve done so much with piebald examples and just give them unique names if they wanted to, Flecked, Blazed/Bald, White-Fronted are just a few I just thought of seeing these

This is why I’m nervous to see a potential GO boar

Boars are one of my favorite animals ingame and I’m scared to see if they end up making its possible GO just nonsensical and ugly like the mule deer

Or roe deer or redone red deer they seem to love stripes… I expected them on the predators, but once they were on the mule deer that made it a complete wildcard and not one I enjoy

Stripes would make more sense on a feral donkey than a deer since horses and donkeys have what are called primitive markings and stripes on their legs can be present albeit not as exaggerated as zebras

And deer do not have these markings so that being an excuse for the stripes makes no sense

Yeah I have a feeling most of the cats that have a great one will end up with stripes as much as it irritates me

Also I’m tired of people saying that this game isn’t a simulator or realistic to try and defend bad fur types

Then why do we have to take ethical shots on animals and use proper ammunition if it’s an arcade game

Why do we have to shoot pheasants in the air for the score then if it’s not a simulator

Not to mention stripes are derived from spots so to put it on animals who never had spots in their genome makes even less sense

I can buy the fallow deer and red deer GOs since they look like they could exist irl

The red deer GO fur is fine since we have deer with spots irl as adults and one could say that for some reason the GO never grew out of its spots due to a mutation or something

Yeah what drew me to cotw in the first place was that it had realistic rares and a good balance between hunting and a quicker game experience, now it’s starting to feel like other dumb hunting games with stupid skins on their animals (mobile is horrid for this)

For future GOs the designers should stop and think “can we explain why this fur looks like this with an actually good reason”

Yeah like if they do mountain lion/puma I could accept an animal that had the cub markings as that has happened but it’s extremely rare, which is what the great ones should be

For the predators and birds it makes more sense

But the GO whitetail sticks out like such a sore thumb now especially

Or give the deer big antlers and take a rare that’s already in game (like piebald) give it a unique pattern and bam Great one. It’d be nice to have a few common furs and then have the “special” furs be a bit rarer

Like this (without the fawn spots) would be a great candidate for a G1 fur imo

I'd rather take a proper leucistic variant at that point if I have to be brutally honest. That being said I do kind of wish the Mocha moose was available outside of the one in NZ

That should exist as well I was just pointing out some the better options that could have been instead of what we got op already covered leucism which is why I didn’t mention it, and yeah a bit honestly forgot about the mocha haven’t looked at mine in years lol

i hate the stupid fantasy furs. im okay with some of the wolf ones. mule deer look horrible. some new furs look horrible. im not playing to see dragons im playing to get animals that look realistic and not like some 12 year olds oc
