With the massive variety of animals in the game, i think cooking could add more content other than just shooting animals. I think it would be cool to be able to cook the different meats from different animals and they would be used as some sort of buff. Could range from your heart rate doesn't increase so fast, to making your aim more steady. Nothing op about it. If you could also make different meals that would give a slight incentive to hunt specific animals. Each animal meat should be able to do something different i think (except for rabbit and duck meat due to the wide variety of basically the same animals). It would also be cool if you could sell the meals / food you make for a slightly higher profit than just selling the animals.

I mean if you sell in bulk maybe but usually a whole cow is worth more than a steak dinner
agreed, but if the meals could be priced slightly higher (depending on the amount you make) It should be worth more i think
We have to take into account that this game is more arcade than realistic.
No matter how the devs try, it still has the game mechanics that allows us 'just run fullspeed infinitely, killspree and just restart, animals respawn immediately with no real consequences'
So I guess we will never go to a realism of players actually having to fulfill their basic needs like eating and sleeping.
However I always found a pity that we have those big fully decorated houses with kitchens, fireplaces, cooking stations, fridges, bars, gardens with grillparty opportunities ... and we cannot use any single thing of it. Not even sit on a couch near fireplace, or near a campfire, and relax a bit.
I guess it's just what people enjoying playing with more people want, and single playerers wouldn't care a bit,
but I was wondering if it could be some day implemented (next to finally redo the player character customization), that we could actually hang out with joined friends around those houses, being able to sit down and talk, waiting for the hunt time, having some drinking or eating animations ... maybe host of the map could put some meat on the grill as you suggest, so other players can interact with it aka eat it, and get a buff, same with drinks.
It's small things like that that make games more immersive, relaxing, enjoyable, and people-connecting.
COTW isn’t designed for that. This is something that might possibly fit better in WOTH (Way of the Hunter).
you are basically describing dave the diver lol
