Yes, im taking a shot in the dark here.

Given tbat its Scotland and the English heritage of hunting there is largely focused on game stalking (known to the US hunters as still hunting or spot and stalking)

The Stalking Rifle, a design of rifle focusing on relatively low recoil cartridges between 6mm and 8mm typically. These rifles are designed for light weight and accuracy at distance. Unlike driven hunting, game stalking is usually a slow and methodical approach with the intention of taking a single precise shot.

The reload animations should be like the Malmer, Olsson, and Vallagarda. Older designs will usually have 5 round magazines
Calibers are chosen based on the game mostly in the area the hunter chooses.

For Scotland I'd expect

6.5x55mm
Or
.275 Rigby/7x57mm

Ironically both of these should covers classes 3-7 neatly (the could do 3-8)

Another good choice would be the 9.3x62mm cartridge covering class 4-9 with much better penetration than 7mm (if the .45-70 was accurately depicted it would be better penetration wise)

And yes, I fully expect this to be wrong and disappointed with it.

The Rigby Highland Stalker in .275 was my pick for my Scottish Highlands reserve suggestion. Would definitely be cool to see in-game.

I can definitely see the possibility of the highland stalker being added(would be really cool to bring to Africa 2.0 as well)

I think a 303/12g cape gun would be pretty sick, but definitely less likely

Oooh, maybe it will be a military Lee Enfield

I must say, unless were getting a really sleek, traditional, internal magazine fed rifle like the highlands stalker or a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk i/ii, I don't see why I would personally want to buy or play the map. but thats just me

The Marlin 336, the .30-30 of Askiy Ridge is based on, is a reskin of the base game Whitlock that was just a half as*ed piece of garbage in the base game but with a scope.

It was more than likely just a half as*ed effort because they spent so much time and effort on the GO that they couldn't be bothered to make any effort at all for the weapon.

Irl I've used the 336 for almost 20 years for everything from feral pigs to RM elk. If they cared to do it right they would have given us at least 4-8 ammo for it with an actual upgrade

But they didn't care because only the GO is important.

As I said I hope this rifle will be at least a 3-7 but I fully expect to be disappointed with it

I really think they Focus to mich on GOs. Why would need 30 diffrent combos when the majority is likly to never see one. Thats the reason i like the Red Deer GO the most cause i kkow what i will get if i would be down to grind it. Imange spending all of your time you have to play the game for a long 3000+ plus kill grind you dont even enjoy just to get the fur rack combo you hate the most

if the map is Scotland i know that shotgun hunting is very common (And as someone who hunts primarily with shotguns) i hope we get a buckshot rework alongside a Rigby Highland Stalker

I would love the Rigby or even a full military LeeEnfield. Still holding out hope either a k98k, k98k norwegian or 1903 will be available in another seperate weapons pack. The Rigby with the 7mm would tie me over.

A Martini Henry .303 also wouldn't hurt my feelings but id honestly rather have a new 3-7 bolt action. Or falling block. A Falling Block 7x57mm would be beautiful

I just hope we dont get another shotgun. If its a combo like the Drilling I might give it a pass. But I genuinely agree another 3-7 would be ideal. But I have a gut feeling this release will be similar to SP but improved from the look of it thus far from the teaser. I'm wagering if burrows are being implemented & if done well I can see 7 Furbearer/Varmints, 7 Upland Birds, 3 Med-Lrg Game, & possibly 2 waterfowl. I will say this out the get go if the new reserve is waterfowl heavy like SP & Revontuli was its going to be a hard pass for me even if it has Badgers.

Im just happy roe deer got a rework, I love hunting them.

Tho yeah, I've got a feeling its a mildly improved SP clone and the only thing that will make me buy it is the weapon. My first choice would be a .275 Rigby bolt action 3-7, second is a Falling Block in the same caliber and classes, third would be the .303 MH I posted above.

As a vague outside hope, if its a shotgun, im hoping for the MH action single shot 12ga or 10ga brass

While a classic British stalking rifle like the Rigby Highland Stalker would be the most fitting thematically, for the next European reserve I’d still like a lighter calibre U/O double rifle.

While more of a continental rifle, the Blaser BB97 in .30 R Blaser as a double rifle, or as a combination gun with .222 Remington would be sweet.

When I say Falling Block rifle, I mean this type of rifle.

This is a Uberti Courteney Stalking rifle available in either .45-70 or .303, id be ecstatic for either of these cartridges but if there was some creative freedom involved to make it a .257, .25-06, 6mm Lee, or 7x57mm I'd still be quite happy

The Farquharson Rifle is a single-shot hammerless falling-block action rifle designed and patented by John Farquharson (1833-1893), of Daldhu, Scotland in 1872.

It is a 100 % Scottish Weapon. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Note: The UK has a strong tradition in gun making, particularly with handcrafted double-barrel and side-by-side shotguns.

@tropic sky Its another shotgun go figure.

I doubt it. N I'll be honest, the only way at this point I see ammo being touched at all is if we see a Gear Pack DLC. Other than that I dont see anything being touched except maybe a reclass here or there if at all 😮‍💨

# rocky terrace Because there will be a lot of small games, I think.

I had a feeling it was from the get go but I expected a 3-7 or a Scottish rifle. I'm tired of seeing shotguns when EW has yet to release a Rifled Slug Shotgun pack 410ga, 20ga /or 16ga, 12ga. Or to boot another SxS 2x barrel. But a Euro pack is still a must with the 9,3x62, 8x57, & 10,3x68. But its another "semi-auto" 12g. Their was alot more options than another 12ga. But atleast its not a 10ga or I would've lost it.

If UK then Springfield comes to my mind, SMLE ofc and .303 Ross Rifle. We already have ammunition for that latter one in game.

Its EU so I'd expect shotguns however combo guns are used alot & I mean alot in Europe. Given this isn't an SP remake with Med-Lrg game I expected something to pair well and another semi-auto shotgun wasn't it.

#

No offense to EW but theres nothing unique about it. Now if it was a 16 or 28ga I'd be less upset bc it adds to other gauges. 12 & 10ga we have alot already.

slow pilot
# rocky terrace

I could accept this. I'll admit I despise O/U shotguns I've never liked them irl either. But a combo gun I can always back up regardless bc you have options.

Its getting a bit old not receiving something new. The 10ga on SP to me was a bust since we already had the SA 10ga from the pk & idk if ppl actually use 10ga outside of geese & I'm aware slugs for boar, when 12ga is usually most ppl's go to. But a 410 or 28ga would've been more appropriate for SP. AR we already know how well that went. But Scotland I had high hopes EW wouldn't mess up the exclusive but well...here we are sadly. All I can hope for now is a future pk that has combo guns. If I were to request shotguns I'd prefer a rifled slug shotgun pack with 410ga, 20ga, 12ga. Icing on the cake would includea bolt & a lever action shotgun model.

#

Part of the reason I'm upset is bc its a shotgun I'm dreading Scotland is going to be littered with waterfowl (ducks & geese). I hope I'm wrong & they have more Upland birds and small game aside from the Med-Lrg game were confident that'll be here. 17 species is also curious as well.

i actually like the look of the new shotgun, it's likely gonna be better than the 20 ga (Which isn't hard because the 20 GA SUCKS)
