It is pretty crazy that wallabies and brushtail possums aren’t on Te awaroa. I think they should be added because they are all over the country and they are nocturnal so it would give a reason to hunt at night on Te awaroa as there is currently no reason to, also they are both more hunted irl than most species currently on the map. Possums outnumber people here like 4:1 which is crazy. ( also European hares would be cool)
#Why aren’t These on Te awaroa?

Same with sambar
Fr
possums it may be because they're too small
Well they do have rabbits on the map so I don’t see why that would be a problem but idk
Te Awaroa needs to be revived again after adding the Himalayan Tahr.
There are several discussions about the proposal to add new species to this map.
Here’s one example: https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1199756905766211704
This is my preferred list:
• Arapawa Sheep in the Fallow Deer region
• Sambar in the Sika Deer region
• Rocky Mountain Elk (reworked) and Fiordland Wapiti in the Red Deer region.
The post is about some waterfowl species that have been proposed here: https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1221221539534475384
pretty sure possums are smaller than rabbits but ok
An adult possum can get roughly double the weight of a European rabbit.
Still insignificant
Brushtail possums aren’t insignificantly small, they can weigh up to and above 6 kg which is larger than most class 1 animals.
They are however an arboreal species which is the major issue in adding them. The inability of possums to interact with trees in CotW’s engine would spoil them I believe, as they would not behave realistically and could not be hunted in the same manner we do in real-life.
This is also true of many species such as grouse and raccoons which are already present in the game, so again I guess it wouldn’t be a massive problem. But the devs would encounter the same issues they would if they wanted to add species such as squirrels in an authentic manner.
Fair
Id prefer rusa honestly! There mich more hard to hunt already so that would be cooler tbh
Why not both?
More deer 🗣‼️
Both is good!
If had to choose ONE it would be rusa, otherwise RME with a remodel would be super hype
Ngl if we could get some stuff id love both rusa and sambar and arapawa sheep the most
Rme would be better off on other maps
I’m still a bit conflicted on adding North Island species to a South Island setting, it would be like pronghorn on New England Mountains.
I doubt we would ever get a second NZ reserve and we already have sika on Te Awaroa so I guess it wouldn’t be too large an oversight.
These species just don’t seem to fit for the people that actually hunt these areas irl.
Wallabies, possums (if they can add functioning arboreal behaviour), a number of missing bird species, and possibly feral sheep and Fiordland wapiti would be enough on Te Awaroa I think.
Wallabies would be incredibly fun!
If we can have all 3 REGIONS of a COUNTRY on 1 single map, I.e sundarpatan, then adding a north island species is basically nothing
And the maps suffer for it. Sunderpatan should have easily been the most mountainous map EW could create seeing as it was set in the Himalyas. But due to jamming too many biomes into too little space the "mountains" on Sunderpatan are smaller than the hills on my farm, and an absolute tonne of interesting species we might have seen in a Nepalese setting will now never make it into the game. A country such as the US has 5 or so maps dedicated to it but every other setting seems to get shafted.
W
Because the US is several different states with different biomes and animals shoving everything into one map for the us wouldn't make sense because of how much bigger it is compared to nepal, adding more maps to just Nepal wouldn't work imo there isnt enough to justify it. Most of it would be repeats and people wouldn't like that
Asia itself is varied too as a continent just be focusing on Nepal for a bunch of maps wouldn't do it justice
Had they focused on legally huntable species like Bharal, Tahr, Muntjac, Upland Birds and a number of species that are on the list of game species but are not currently hunted like Indian Leopard, Goral, Himalayan Black Bear and Sambar Deer
Sundarpatan could have been a map mostly based on the Himalayan Mountains with some heavily wooded valleys
