"Real" Great Ones

This idea stems from a conversation I had with a friend of mine about the mulie great ones, which I still think look ridiculous.

Since we've more or less established that the great one racks are premade why not use this to our advantage and recreate real life record book animals? Using whitetail as an example you could have the brewster buck and the hole in the horn buck as possible great ones and for typical racks, the current standing world record typical, hanson buck and (very controversial possible WR) rompola buck. Obviously other world records for other species like Mule deer and red deer exist so you could have them too.

For me being a real hunter, it would be awesome to be able to have actual record book animals in game and in a way pays respect to the animals and the hunters that took them.

Now, I am NOT saying to remove these fantasy racks and fur types whatsoever they also have their place as the reward for that much grinding, but adding real life animals to the great one list would still be awesome in my opinion. For me I would like it more than shooting a moose with a borderline elk rack, a red deer with literal vines growing on it, or a mule deer with an almost heart shaped rack with a fur type called milky way or petal puff.

Yes! I fully agree, the mule deer look stupid, and the best rack/most realistic (typical rack) isn't even amazing by what Mule Deer can be!

Now wouldn't it make more sense if that was the great one that came with Alberta?

The Hole in the Horn buck came from near where I grew up, and every season we hoped there was a chance for one just like it. I'd love to see famous real-life racks in the game

Deer hunter 4 had it's record animals modeled on real life deer, I want to say that was one that was in the game. Again for irl hunters that like the history of record book animals having great ones modeled on those famous animals would be awesome.

I would actually bother with great ones if they were designed after famous bucks/Stags/Bulls/Ect.

After seeing the wolf great ones it’s a bit of a let down tbh. It’s hard to make great ones of those species without making random fur variants, I get it, but it could have been a little less silly in my opinion. Not gonna put much effort into getting one.

I totally agree would love for this to happen I only wonder if it would be a possible infringement situation. I think with the current record bucks they would have to pay to use the likeness of it but that's just my limited understanding of it. I would be very happy if I was wrong on that

There’s a good possibility that there would be some kind of legal issue you’d run into, but honestly who knows how it works for putting them into a game. With having replicas made I know it is costly and guys like Hanson who have the standing WR make money off of people getting replicas made. If you know something about the rompola buck controversy you’ve probably heard about the supposed agreement between him and Hanson. Still being able to partner with B&C like the hunter classic did in the early days would probably be a way to get around that but I’m not sure.

I mean they wouldn’t have to do the exact bucks just more inspired and designed from them along with some more grounded giant typical’s and the ability for normal fur types like the whitetail has and then we can avoid the mule deer fiasco, also would just be cool imo to have a normal coat on the great one predators since they change the model enough to make it work. Not a single gray coat for the GRAY wolf G1 is crazy to me.

Honestly yeah having them close to the real ones is good enough for me, just getting away from the far out stuff we’ve been getting. And yeah I don’t like the completely wild fur types I’d rather have a normal coat lol

I 10000% agree, there have been too many weird and outlandish furs and antlers, especially for the Moose and Mule Deer, we need more antler types for antlered animals, animals with only furs get a bit of a pass, but I still would rather have 8 - 10 antlers, with a common fur, than 4 antlers and 6 furs (the g1 moose)

Sweet, we even need to have non typs that aren't great ones like this one for example.

Yeah, with bears and such you almost no choice but to do different furs and a bigger model which I think is fine, but I'd like to see a regular fur type in the mix. Even a black bear G1 with a white muzzle and such to indicate a significantly older animal would be nice. I get it though, they have to make something flashy to keep people hooked, but it ends up turning someone like me away.
